I lost Dekker on like the second mission. I pretend that it was intentional. :-P

Money’s not really a problem so far, but I imagine it will become more problematic as I progress (only 7 hours in so far). I’ve been pushing for money in the negotiations instead of scrap so far, since scrap seems plentiful anyway. Is that a mistake?

I don’t see that button anywhere. Can you explain more? Is it on the Argo?

For me my go to Mech set is Grasshopper, Thunderbolt, Orion. Then I switch between Griffon, Jager, Hunchback, and Quickdraw depending on mission.

MANAGE TASKS

Oh I misunderstood the question. I thought you got new tasks or missions if you didn’t like the ones on the planet you’re on.

Ah nah, but I did read about a way to mod those missions if you want - you can increase both the number of missions on the current planet you’re in, and number of missions for travel contracts.

That post is in this very thread!

You can also change the Volatility of Skulls so that you always get a range of 1-to-[current max] skulls of difficulty missions all the way to the end of the story.

Not at all.

The Treb has no jump jets and is slow. Use a Wolvie to sprint in under cover - good luck hitting it at those speeds - and jump around as needed. A Firestarter and I can shut down a Treb with little issue because LRMs are not going to hit much at sprint speeds. If the rest of the lance wants to concentrate fire on it while it harasses the Treb, that is fine for the rest of my lance who will quickly mop up the other mechs and then be left alone with a Treb who has limited ammo.

Every mech has a weakness. Most more than one. For instance my personal favorite has always been a Grasshopper. Heavy use of energy weapons, jump jets and heavy armor makes it very sustainable on most battlefields. But a Griffin who knows how to use range will give my 'Hopper fits.

I’m playing Ironman style and it’s really not that bad. you just keep extra mechwarriors, rotate them in and out to spread injuries and training, and don’t hesitate to eject if the shit hits the fan. Minimizes the chance of the quick death.

I managed to get DFA leg mods, one is -30 self damage for DFA, another is -10. Also have -1 Melee hit which I’m not 100% how it works. However the end result is my Shadowhawk can do 4-5 DFA’s without shredding it’s own legs off.

the treb is a bit odd with the hardpoint system since it has a big engine that you can’t remove. End result is that it’s faster than it really needs to be and gives up tonnage of weapons/armor to do that.

I eject a lot. The problem right now (what happened on my third reload) is that either I’m doing fine or the enemy gangs up on one of my mechs, knocking it down (so they hit more often) and making it act later (so they shoot more at it), so I go from half armor or better in all critical parts in a heavy (and that’s a lot of armor) to mech destroyed without being able to eject.

When facing heavies or assaults it’s pretty much all or nothing in terms of durability. At least for me.

I’ve been having fun with my Shadowhawk too, also a close quarters version. Different philosophy though:

AC/20 with 2 tons ammo
M Laser
5 jumpjets
A fair amount of armor (not quite max)

I’ve been jumping in and sensor locking while the rest of the lance softens the opponents up. Then the AC/20 goes to work…lots of fun! :D

I love cobbling together mechs with whatever’s in my spare parts bin…it’s led to some very fun combinations that I wouldn’t have normally thought of.

Dammit, I am doing what my father does/used to do. He’d tell me this cool story he learned about and I’d be like, yes I know, I’m the one who told you.

I read the AMA, and I realize that Glitch was the merc who got her faced punched in during my tutorial mission. I guess I’m missing out - is her audio re-used for other mercs you hire?

Have you ever heard “you get a headshot, you get a headshot and you get a headshot” when you do multishot? That’s her line.

I don’t believe so. I think the audio is unique for the pilots (albeit probably by the same group of voice actors)

Oooh, I have been signaled very clearly that I’m on the last mission string of the campaign.

Could be interesting.

Were there a bunch of health pickups and ammo boxes lying around?

Current, I am done to 3 mechs, with nothing heavier then 45 tons, and one locust. Do you think I can take a 1.5 skull mission? The last one was 3 medium mechs, and I took a beating, even with my quick draw.

In about 45 days, my quickdraw will be back, and in about 70 days, my centurian and shadowhawk will be online.
I just am not sure what to do. I have 2 Mission options. Can I grab one, and then wait the extra 45 days to get my quickdraw up and running? Is there a way to increase my mech bay options if I am will to hang out?

I hated that line so much.
