Glad you’re enjoying it and thanks for your continued support
I added a bundle of new content (way exceeding what I’d originally pitched to Dreamcatcher) in the Gold package in order to make it worthwhile for both the single and multi play crew.
Kudos to Dreamcatcher for putting together a quality package.
Yep. Thats one of the reasons I signed a multi- title deal with Dreamcatcher. They have been very consistent in having high quality production materials (ok, the box art on Iron Storm sucked. balls. only bested by Gore’s rubbish looking box cover) that make the game stand out and grab you by the throat. And all the assets you see used there are game assets which I provided. Some of them were posed in order to make the scene look as intended (e.g. the marine talking off his helmet).
The production values are very high, nice thick manual with appendices (which were on the cd in the last release) on high quality paper as well as the galaxy map.
What I did was update the manual docs with everything that I had revised since the game was originally released in 2001. That material is available to the BCM crew as an online html file which I put together a few patches ago, but BCMG printed manual has it all integrated.
And one of things we kept hearing was that the tutorials and a listing of acronyms needed to be in the manual. So, I gave Brian the appendices and they ended up in the back of the manual. We ran out of time so the acronym list he was putting together, didn’t make it in - but it should be available as a PDF file later this week.
btw, that galaxy map is the same one that is on the reverse of the printed BCM keyboard sheet. Didn’t one come in your copy of BCM?
Something you don’t usually expect with a “gold edition” at that price point. Usually you get a “leaflet” as a manual with the majoriyt of the docs in PDF on the cd.
Yep. And we are even offering $10 off to existing BCM owners who have POP. As a previous BCM owner, you get a wealth of single player content and multiplayer for $19.99
Anyway, as Brian pointed out, I made a last minute decision (it was my call) to switch hosting services due to tech and costing issues with the previous provider. And apart from that, the new host provides better server, brand new equipment (which I end up purchasing) and reasonable rates. I wanted to establish this relationship right now because I’m going to re-use them for more public servers in six months when BCG (the triple-A title which has all my eggs) rolls around.
To see a list of whats new in the upcoming server patch, I uploaded an update advisory before I left. I’ll be back later tonite (I cut my vacation short by four days because of this btw) and will resume working on getting everything up and running tomorrow when I gain access to the servers.
