Bel-Air - Fresh Prince but now a teen drama on Peacock

I just threw up a little in my mouth. Much like I do whenever I see Riverdale ads.

I’m not sure how to react to this absurdity, so I’m just going to mute the thread. Good luck, everyone.

Honestly, I’m kind of onboard with this.

I don’t normally watch trailers, but I figured I’d never watch this series like I never watched the original series, so what the heck, I’ll watch the trailer.

That looks good. I’m intrigued and want to see more of that.

Ok, I checked and it does look like Morgan Cooper worked on this and the original fan trailer.

This is weird. Not only changing from comedy to drama, but if you think about it, the fact they are doing a whole drama from a thing that was barely commented on a few lines of the opening song and then never brought again (the fact he had a dangerous encounter while playing basketball and moving away because of it).

In the original, the premise was barely an excuse to start the series with Will on the mansion!

Well mostly so he could play the working class kid routine in a mansion in Bel Air.

Honestly, if I had the time, I would be in on this as well.

The idea of a kid fleeing West Philly to avoid being another statistic, and then not fitting in with his wealthy relatives or their community feels very real to much a story that can be told.

I hope there is some humor to it, because fish out of water demands that, but I can see this working well as a drama.

Worked for Battlestar Galatica

It does look strangely compelling.

They could just make the show though, without calling it a Fresh Prince reboot… but then it probably wouldn’t get the publicity and might flounder.
