Best Place To Buy Board Games Online?

Looking for decent prices and reliable service.

Thanks.

I’ve never had any issues with Funagain Games.

I use Thoughthammer. I’ve found their customer service to be terrific.

Boardgamegeek.com has like a hundred threads on this, but:

  1. Thoughthammer is the main one most people use, and they’re good, but their prices are slightly higher than what you can get elsewhere.
  2. Funagain is a goddamn ripoff, way too expensive.
  3. Time Well Spent (http://www.timewellspent.org) is my personal favorite, with excellent selection and prices
  4. Boulder Games and Boards ‘n’ Bits are also well-regarded though I find their sites and/or selection lacking.
  5. War Game Depot is the best place to get war games, as they have the best prices and biggest selection.

Finegames.com isn’t too bad.

I’ve used Funagain a number of times. The prices have seemed comparable to other online places the times that I’ve cross-checked, but maybe I’ve just been lucky.

Our bricks & mortar board game shop of choice has a storefront through Amazon. It’s the Games Keep, and the owner Karl is a great resource for new and different games to try. He’s great and his prices seem pretty good to me.

Thanks everyone.

That’s the one I use.

Yep. I’ve ordered from them a lot and have never had a problem. And they’re very competitive on prices.

Depends what game you are looking for. I’ve used TheWarstore happily in the past. Good prices, cheap shipping - fast service.

LoTech Games is great for the more common titles…

I use Wargame Depot for all my grognard games…

Also, Troll & Toad is good…

My best results have been with finding a BGG small vendor in my area, and then picking up shipments in batches periodically. The best part is that your preorders can be handled with someone you know and can call. Plus, you can negotiate if you find other prices that are significantly lower. I don’t know how well that works in other places, but given that Atlanta is a game store starved area (no thanks, Oxford), it’s about the best I’ve done.

I generally shop at a local retailer, but when I shop online, I usually go through Funagain. They have (or at least had, probably still do) a pretty good rewards program where you earn point with purchases that translates to future discounts.

Plus, they have a bunch of super-cheap clearance games all the time, many of which they show you right before check-out. I’ve taken them up on several of those deals and gotten some very well-respected gems very cheaply.

I’ve bought all my board games and Flames of War miniatures through The Warstore and had great service every time.

I buy most everything from www.gamersarmory.com, or at least the things he carries. Most of his stock is wargames, but he’s been branching out into other stuff lately. Scott’s a really nice guy.

Funagain sells at 20% off, most places sell at around 30% off. The exceptions are games from Mayfair or FRED, which have MAP policies that force everyone to sell for no more than 20% off, at which point they are competitive.

FRED is MSRP only. Funagain has a good stock of imports that you don’t find at Thoughthammer. If you are on the East coast, you may want to use Boulder games for most of those same imports to get faster shipping. Gamesurplus also stocks unusual European imports but they sell out of them fast. Boardsandbits.com is also a low price reliable company and carries some different imports, specifically splotter games. www.cardhaus.com is another place to get board games, but they really specialize in CCG’s.

You can find the cheapest prices for stuff at www.boardgameprices.com but be a little wary of companies you’ve never heard of.

I’ve been using Thoughthammer mostly, though occasionally I find Funagain has a better selection.

I used to use Thoughthammer, but recently started using www.coolstuffinc.com because their free shipping threshold is $100.
