Best Sequels Ever

The ones that stand out for me:

Civ 2 - Great sequel to one of the best 4x games ever
Fallout 2
Baldur’s Gate 2

Guilty Pleasure:
Daggerfall - Despite all the bugs, it was an amazing game. In a lot of ways – freedom of the sandbox, sense of scale – even Oblivion can’t match it.

I’m sure there are others…

System Shock 2.

Red Alert 2. Elevated the camp to entirely new levels.

Halo 2, if only for the most flawless Live implementation of all time.

Man, there’s a bunch, just looking at my shelf.

Freespace 2
Star Control 2
Master of Orion 2
Jagged Alliance 2
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Mechwarrior 2
SWAT 3
Caesar 3

Also, do spiritual sequels count?

Wing Commander 2.

I’m pretty fond of BfME 2 right now, too; improves on the original in a helluva lot of ways.

Would Shenmue 2 count at all? Let’s see Super Mario World, Ocarania of time, Diablo 2 ( for me anyway).

Doom 2
Duke Nukem 3D
Thief 2
Tony Hawk 4
Tony Hawk: UG 2 (as a sequal to THUG 1)

Gothic 2
Silent Hunter III
Zork 2

Ultima III
Ultima IV
Ultima V
Baldur’s Gate 2
Age of Empires 2
Gothic 2
Pitfall 2
Unreal Tournament 2004

Singles: Triple Trouble

If they do Alpha Centauri wins the thread

Bard’s Tale 3
Ultima 5
Civ 2
Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin
Independence War 2
Freespace 2
BG2

Doom 2
1/2 Life 2
Civ 2
Wing Commander 2-now with real voices!
Gauntlet 2- now with an ending- and a dragon!
Street Fighter II
Super Mario Bros- if we agree that Mario Bros was the first.
BG2
Dark Forces II:Jedi Knight
Dark Forces III:Jedi Knight II also.
Warcraft II-look! boats!..oh and new fangled rushing tactics…grr…

not Privateer 2.-which is the WORST sequel of all time…
Or is it Interstate 82…

edit:Damn- DUH- of course it is TIE Fighter.

I’d never play it again, but Dune 2 was pretty awesome for its time.

[Hmmm we’re starting to resemble GG and OO =](http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=24298&highlight=sequels)

Given the nature of the industry, how is this different from a ‘list your favorite games’ thread?

-Tom

Nobody’s lists have Doom, Civilization, X-Com, or Master of Magic on 'em.

You might want to examine this thread a little closer. At least the first post.

Or maybe you might…

I get what you’re saying, but I’m going to stand by my post. I’m tired of running. It’s time to take a stand.
