Best software for making iso images?

Title says it all. MONEY IS NO OBJECT MUAHAHA

alcohol 120%?

I’ll second Alcohol 120. I’ll also nominate ISOBuster if you need to extract from a given ISO in order to create your new one.

Ok thanks. I think we’re going for this.

Depends on your needed feature set, but Imgburn is lightweight and simple to use.

Alcohol contains spdt.sys. Just say NO to spdt.sys!
I’ll second imgburn.

for mounting I like the very free and spdt.sys free Virtual Clone Drive:

Hater… ;)

ImgBurn (as suggested above). It’s also free.

ImgBurn is great

ImgBurn.

seconded.

Why not try out Daemon Tools. I’ve always used it and found it quite intuitive and easy.

because daemon tools also uses SPDT.SYS!!!

I use to use daemon tools but I’m so much happier with virtual clone drive. It just works better, no need for a reboot, doesn’t bsod if you try and mount something over unc shares, etc.

ImgBurn

ImgBurn is teh sex.

dd if=/dev/sdc1 of=image.iso

Well someone had to.

If you’re lonely on a cold winter’s night, ImgBurn will cuddle with you.

Great. I read this fifteen minutes after I finally get around to buying a license for Alcohol.

So, what, I’m sitting on a time bomb now?

Heh, actually I bought a license of alcohol too and haven’t used it in a long time. It’s probably ok for most people but just google spdt.sys. It can lead to some bsod and system stability issues for some people (more so in vista I believe). Anyways, one issue I did have with it is trying to mount an iso over a unc defined network path. This was an instant bsod and repeatable on two completely different machines. That right there makes me no longer trust that driver.
