Shame the Steam edition of Transport Giant apparently does not hold a candle to the original game due to bugs and stuff. Otherwise that could have been another decent older suggestion to pass the time. Though, if you do not mind some intra-city transportation and logistics – which is going to make any rail stuff more Tram, Metro and Underground focused – then Cities in Motion could be worth a look.
