Best TV intros / title sequences

Harvey Birdman:

Futurama:

Animaniacs:

Yes, Minister

I almost fell out of my chair when Boardwalk Empire’s opening credits come blasting in with “Straight Up And Straight Down”. Fully endorse strummer’s selection.

The intro music for the US version of The Office is composed and played by Jay Ferguson, the 1970 FM radio rock hero of “Shakedown Cruise” and “Thunder Island” fame.

Both of which are great songs and I will fight anyone who denies this.

Great montage sequence of shots there, with none of the shots actually being from any of the episodes themselves, which is cool. Plus, Mogwai.

Alan Ball, y’all:

Yeah, reminds me of when I heard Ween on a TV commercial selling cars or the Cadillac spot with a Buffalo Tom song.

In retrospect, I guess hearing music I loved being used to pimp vehicles was just life’s way of telling me I was getting old.

Can’t believe I forgot to post this one. Heck, I could have picked most of the opening sequences from this series.

Space Brothers opening #1

Props to the Get Smart nod. I am amazed that we have reached this point without a single mention of the show who almost everyone can sing at least part of the song to… Yep who does not know Gilligan’s Island?
Heres some more fun ones:

Always got a kick out of Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place

You guys got most of mine, though I tend to love best the ones that are just… super short. Or even better yet shows that don’t even have one!

But I do like this:

Also, speaking of memorable but short intros:

My son just texted me and I wrote him back and it made me think of this thread.

I quite like the music and pounding heartbeat bass line of Daredevil.

Game of Thrones has good classical music.

Original Star Trek intro too obvious, so you get a robot roll call instead.

In terms of nostalgia, nothing beats this for me:

In color!
