One way to check if a video has already been posted is to extract the identifier from the URL (“FYarjPDfY2w” for your example), and then do a Google search for “site:quartertothree.com FYarjPDfY2w”.

Though there are many reposts on YouTube that its querystring id might still produce the same.

The following works pretty well for searching this thread through Google:

site:quartertothree.com 25186 cat

And you can combine that with the YouTube code, just in case. Ultimately, though, someone’s going to tell you your link is old/reposted/stupid/contains cats - that’s the consequence of communication. Proper etiquette demands you simply apologize and then sign them up for Daily Grannies.

That’s the thread id of this thread, so basically by including that you’re coming close to limiting the search to this thread (you may also catch a few other pages with links directly to this thread since the thread id will appear in those links). Without it you’ll be searching all of qt3 for ‘cat’.
