Oh my god, me and my friends used to have hours of fun with Sprint relay and IP relay. Funny video.

Elizabeth Gilbert muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses – and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person “being” a genius, all of us “have” a genius. It’s a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk.

Fantastic video which I think is relevant to a number of people on this forum.
Warning 19 minutes, but she’s fantastic.

How it’s made : Bacon. Somehow I never knew it was pork bellies.

There was a Radiolab podcast episode about this kind of study, too. It’s pretty interesting how the children who do the worst at the test will all turn out to be serial killers. I might not be remembering the details right.

Siren, that was hilarious. I was cracking up at the kids smelling it.

I want to see a video of the experiment where they hand the child a “very special” doll that’s been rigged to fall apart in their hands, and measure their remorse. (They absolve the children of their guilt after 60 seconds, so it’s not as monstrous as it sounds.)

That experiment looks awesome! Most young kids probably don’t have the patience for the full brew cycle, though.

Let’s see how she reacts when we take away the puppy …

Also, Marged, might want to double-check that link.

I like the one where the kid is looking away in like a child version of the thinker–rolling the marshmallow in his hand–as if he’s contemplating the deep philosophical nature of marshmallow-hood.

Oh, dammit! You know, for some reason on my laptop, ctrl+C never seems to take leading to my endless embarrassment on numerous occasions. I usually check compulsively now as a result. Here’s the real link: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/25/science/25tier.html

I can totally understand a preoccupation with beer as the week drags on.

At least it wasn’t horrific porn again.

…Again?

Yeah, small blessings, right?

Good read, by the by.

You know, this is probably the best thing about the Curious George stories: George always promises to be a good monkey, but sometimes he forgets. It helps kids to understand that doing a bad thing doesn’t necessarily make them bad kids.

I’ll say this much, though… my kid is about seventeen million times better-behaved than I ever was at his age.

That was probably the best speech I’ve ever heard. Very helpful ideas, brilliantly presented. What a thinker and talker! Thank you, Scrax!

I like soem of the comments:

It’s difficult to accept as anything other than parody - but it isn’t funny or clever, and the images give no impression of self-awareness.
