Is there any penalty besides ADAM for missing a little sister? The same thing happened to me, I killed a Big Daddy and theres no little sister or any other big daddy’s left.

Nope, that’s it. The big daddy will respawn, though.

Well I can confirm the bug now, as I lost the option of finding one sister, I hope that doesn’t screw me out of any endings.
I think I’m far enough to say that overall, I’m finding bioshock a bit underwhelming. The interface is pretty bad when they said that they developed a brand new interface for the pc version.I can’t believe I can’t set the order of guns and plasmids or even go to the pause menu and manually set which ones I’m using, you can’t set your plasmid while your gun is out and vice versa.
The fighting is pretty poor imo, even with the plasmids there isn’t any excitement to the fights, as every enemy behaves the same way. The big daddies follow the same pattern in their fights and I can now fight the melee one without dying. I’m also noticing a severe disconnect between my reticle and where I’m aiming, I’ve tried shooting prox mines and other things and even though it says that I’m aiming at it, the shot is a mile off even at close range.
The setting, situations, and the character growth I like, but the general gameplay is getting boring. Not once during my entire playthru have I even felt scared or tense while playing, but maybe I’ve become conditioned after all the horror games I’ve played. I’ll finsh off this playthru then I’ll shelve it til a patch comes out.
You sir are super jaded. That is all.
The only FPS I can think of lets you ‘set the order of guns’ is Tribes. And it’s a totally different kind of game.

Turn on Hard.

The pistol is the only accurate gun I’ve found at range. The Machine Gun has a huge cone of fire and the Shotgun has a quick dropoff.

Stop playing it like Quake. Well, that’s probably hard to do without analog control, come to think of it.

Now you’ve got me worried.
Ok is there really a bug with missing little sisters?
so far I’ve seen little sisters without a big daddy…they just run away when I get close into one of those vent holes.
I’ve also killed a big daddy but no little sisters (either I missed her or she took off).
Am I hosed?
I wouldn’t worry. Sometimes the Little Sisters will crawl into a vent for a nap (you can even hear them telling Mr. B they’re sleepy), which is why you’ll sometimes see Big Daddies wandering around without a Little Sister when you expected one. And the Little Sisters that are alone and run away are probably scripted; I saw it happen once in Neptune’s Bounty, but she came back later.

Deus Ex allows it, and BioShock was compared to Deus Ex by its own developers. If the game had an inventory like SS2/Deus Ex we would be able to make our own UI’s and put the guns in whatever slots we felt like.

Yeah it’s pretty appalling that PC players cannot walk.
Apparently the only uninstall option that actually counts towards allowing you to install it again is on the CD! As if people look to find CDs when they want to uninstall software.
I think most of us on the forum have learned to take pfreak with a grain of salt. I find it hard to believe some of his complaints and others are flat out incorrect.
As has been mentioned in other threads, it’s easy to find a Big Daddy without a Little Sister. They respawn and wander around, occasionally going to a vent to get a Little Sister. You can – and indeed need to at one point – kill them without getting a Little Sister out of the deal.

It would sell 1/10th the number of copies, but you’d get to choose the order.

How do you play old logs? I let a few build up until I got to a safe place, but when I push ‘T’ it repeatedly plays the newest log rather than the newest unread log, like it says it does.
This is the first single player FPS I have ever played for more than half an hour, and I love it. Since I don’t really like games like this (1 player FPS, horror, underwater) I started on easy, and man was it ever easy. The only death I had in ~3 hours was a lucky headshot from a random splicer. But it also had one interesting behavior.
At one point I got into a fight with a splicer and thought I killed him but did not. I went over to a corner to pick up a voice memo, and sat there listening until it ended. When I turned around, the splicer was already right up against me but hadn’t attacked. I screamed and scared my fiancee. I’ve since started over on normal (to show her the first ~15 minutes) and man, it is significantly harder. Feels better though, like the fights mean something.
I also love the hint system. Very nice in case you aren’t good at it.
Go into the “messages” section of the map menu. Diary messages are grouped into categories by area name.
Dammit.
I’m fiscally limited to one game purchase over the next month and a half or so. I had geared myself that it was going to be Halo 3.
My loyalties have faltered after reading this thread and seeing the critical reaction, and I’m planning on going looking for this one tomorrow. Are stocks on the game low? Am I going to have trouble finding it?
I figure I’m doing the right thing buying this now and putting off Halo until later.
On 360 conversations are one of the menu options you scroll through when you flip past the menu. So we hit “back”, you hit escape? or whatever and then flip to the section. It should be obvious once you’re looking for it, but I only found it by accident. It’ll show you a text version and then you keep selecting until it plays again, iirc.
So what’s the biggest QT3 thread for a single player only game? This has to be pretty close.
The Titan Quest thread is up to page 68, but it probably won’t take long.
(Edit: Well, mostly single-player…)
Is there a known issue relating to alt-tabbing while playing in PC full-screen mode? If I alt-tab at all ever during a game, later while playing BioShock will suddenly minimize itself after a few seconds of playing, seemingly in response to movement key input, forcing me to alt-tab back again. Sometimes it will stay in game for a while, but then randomly it will switch again to my Desktop. No other apps are apparently interfering and other full-screen games don’t do this.
I forgot about Deus Ex, you’re right.

Had my first lockup, no biggie. Had my first slicer-behind-me-while-I’m-doing-something-and-then-turn-around-and-almost-wet-myself moment…jeesus…creepy game. I just went back to Stalker since there’s been a few patches since it came out…really enjoying that one also. Stalker and Bioshock…mmmm…good.
