I’m at Neptune’s Bounty right now, just got the camera… I’m playing on Hard. Does anyone know about how many hours of gameplay I have left? I am wondering if I should just try to finish this over the weekend or play it slowly about an hour a day. Either way I want to have plenty of time left over for other stuff.

I’d say you’re about a quarter of the way through. Maybe a third.

What is that in hours I have left though? Since I probably put in 4-5 hours already, if not more?

People who have finished are saying 15-20 hours, but that all depends on how you play.

So is the camera actually in Neptune’s Bounty? I’m still messing around in the Medical area, that might explain why I don’t (think I) have it, although strangely, it does appear in my notes.

I’d say you’ve got about 13 hours left, maybe up to 16 on Hard. I think it took me a bit under four hours to get to that point, and around 17 hours to complete the whole thing.

Yes. It will show up in your weapon selection when you obtain it. And I recommend using it early and often.

I am sure all the dominion’s thread are by far, the biggest (each).

And are multiplayer games.

This describes my experience pretty well - except that I like multiplayer FPS’ like Battlefield, but am such a pussy that even Doom 3 scared me.

The exact same thing happened to me. I went back to an area I’d cleaned out, noticed a safe I’d missed, hacked it and then turned around and there was a splicer RIGHT IN MY FACE.
I almost soiled myself and that is were my session ended that night (it doesn’t help my experience that everybody else is sleeping while I play and my surround-system is pretty good… Bioshock has scary sounds aplenty).

I too started on Easy (I care more about the unfolding story than the accomplishment) but switched.

The hint system is the best I’ve ever seen. Something you’re the first to mention - probably because the rest here are hardcore, play on Hard and frown on people using tips. But in most games you’re usually stuck with useless and all to general tips or complete spoilers like GameFaqs - Bioshock manages to nudge you along without ruining the game.

Question on the camera: Is it worth taking multiple pictures of the same type of splicer? I take a picture and it gives me a rating… but I don’t know if it’s actually worth doing after the initial one.

Yes. Every time the red bar fills you get some kind of bonus or even power. You get less points for taking pictures of the same exact splicer, but you definitely want to take pictures of the same type more than once.

I adore playing games on hard, and I scoff derisively at hints. I’ve been gaming for, literally, 27 years.

Bioshock kicked my ass on Hard within an hour of installing. I mean, handed me my ass in a hat and asked me, “would you like a cup to collect your tears with that?”

BEST GAME EVER, HANDS DOWN, PERIOD, NO DISCUSSION.

I can’t stress how useful it is to take pictures and get the research bonuses. From auto-hacking turrets and sentry bots (but, sadly, not cameras) to things like a permanent 50% damage increase to the strongest weapon in the game (the wrench), it’s well worth your time to always snap as many pictures as you can of every foe you meet, until the camera stops allowing you to take them. You can usually get at least three snapshots of each foe, and sometimes more, depending on the situation.

Speaking of the wrench, it made me smile when I first played the demo and Atlas nodded to Half-Life by asking me to find a crowbar just before I picked up the wrench. I wouldn’t go on to say that the wrench nodded to Opposing Force though, but it’s all the little touches, nods, winks, boxes of chocolates and teddy bears that the game gives the player that makes me smile and love it more everytime I stop and think about it.

Definitely. The camera is now my primary weapon, as in I walk around with it equipped ready to shoot the picture of the enemy first (and then run like hell). Film is cheap and the rewards can be quite good. The harder to photograph/rarer an enemy, the more you should make an effort. Also, parts of the security system (turrets, bots) are good targets, prior to being hacked that is.

The game will let you know when a particular splicer type is maxed out for research and will automatically stop the camera from taking pictures if that is the case (or if the picture would be too worthless). Sometimes the standards for an A picture vs a C one can be a bit arbitrary (Dead Rising had more predictable but much more punishing system), but I have no complaints overall. Now if I could just find more of those gun mod machines.

There’s one over by that leak in the ceiling, next to the dead splicer and sparking electrical outlet. You know, where it’s flooded a little and things are a bit worn down! ;)

Alex is right, you definitely want to be taking pictures, and don’t feel bad about taking 3 pictures of the same target. As mentioned, film is cheap and plentiful enough, and the research bonuses are more than worth the cost.

As for the wrench, I absolutely loved it. Nothing like a good whack applied to those bloody Spider Slicers. I loved the [spoiler] Gun, but I used the wrench 90% of the time. I couldn’t even pick up most of the ammo later on because I wasn’t expending any of it.

Yeah I’m definitely thinking of going melee focused on my next go through.

Minor Spoilers

I played through using the monkey wrench and electro plasmisd almost exclusively. Toward the end, combined with the health and eve regen tonic, sport boost 2, and monkey wrench bonus 2 and 1, for using the wrench, I could pretty much wade into a group of enemies and go to town. Well that and I usually had a +2 to +3 damage boost from photographs as well. The exceptions were the Big Daddies, but that generally meant I had plenty of ammo for them.

How often can you find film? Is it sold anywhere?
