I did the same in Arcadia, except on Normal. I was hiding from one in a canal area that ran parallel to an elevated walkway where the Big Daddy was. I was lobbing grenades up onto the platform when another Big Daddy came onto the walkway from the opposite direction. The walkway was pretty narrow so they seemed to have a hard time getting around one another and stayed still long enough for the grenades to wipe them out.
Great. Thanks. I assume the “Wall crawler” outside the place where you get the rocket lancher is meant to kill you? Just based on how the fight goes and what the guy says afterwards.

I just entered Rapture for the first time tonight.
I admit I was exploring the Xbox 360 as much as I was exploring Rapture (Geometry Wars Demo!), but…
You can definitely tell that this game was made by the same gang who made System Shock 2. Absolutely no doubt that this is the spiritual successor to that game. They might as well have named the guy guiding me over the radio “Polito.” Though I’m quite happy to note that the revolver I picked up still functions. But the hypos, the vending machines, the weapons, the psi powers, the monsters… just reeks of SS2 so far.
Except I think I’m enjoying it even more.
I especially appreciated the way one of your earliest goals is to fight your way through Medical to get a key off of a doctor. Such nostalgia!
How do you get more slots for your gene-tonics? Or is 6 across the three disciplines it?
At a Gatherers Garden. Can’t at the very first one though I think.
Just about to leave the fishery area and so far I have only had an option to increase plasmid slots.
Minor spoiler:
The next major area that you go to has a Gatherer’s Garden that sells slots for everything.

For some reason I had figured that plasmids wouldn’t really work against Big Daddies, so I’ve just been using guns on them. Good to know I can get much more creative (unfortunately I did discover that they don’t conveniently shatter after being frozen…)
Need help getting to an area in Hepheastus- Very, very slight spoilers:
At the bottom of the workshop area I can see some items and a recording under the stairs but haven’t found any way to get down there. Anyone know how?
There’s a crawlspace very near the bottom of the stairs.
There’s a crawlspace door around the corner. It’s exactly where you’d think it should be, it’s just hard to see.
Thanks. Managed to also take out the three big daddies in that area that I was having trouble with. Amazing how a couple tonics and a rocket launcher even the battlefield.
I also noticed that all three Big Daddies did not try and douse the fire when lit up. They just ignored it.
They are encased in a huge suit of Underwater armor, and are easily a shitton stronger than you, or any other natural human being.
Would you stop your rampaging spree of killing shit if you were the same?
Not at all. But previously someone suggested I use the fire/electricity tactic on them. I was just pointing it out it doesnt work.
The Electricity I can understand, as it stuns them.
But Fire? I mean… Unless the tanks on their backs explode (Which they should…), I don’t really see how…
Unless it cooked them. That’d be badass.

krokodile, solomani’s not trying to kill the Daddy with fire. He’s trying to get it to run to the water, which the person who originally posted this strategy (up the page) claimed would work. Okay?

Oh…
Alright.
Thanks. Ass. Hardly a noob, but I was just stating that I didn’t think Fire would kill them.
It does work, but it’s up to the Big Daddy whether he’s going to stop shooting at you to put himself out or not. I fought the Big Daddy in the exact space being discussed, and I did that to him a couple of times.
The trick might be to light him up when he’s somewhat near the water. If he has to make any sort of trek to get there, he’s far too angry to bother, I guess. He was standing in the muddy area between the two decks when I fought him, so the puddle was very nearby.
The strategy works much better on normal splicers, by the way. Of course, they don’t always run to the water just like they don’t always run to health stations. It all depends upon the situation and their level of anger, I suppose.
