Like I said, they set up fake companies, set up ad buys as agencies for existing companies and load up the mal-flash package on legitimate sites. I work at expedia. Someone set up a fake agency in a european country and bought an ad for a legit company, but the ad contained the malware package. I don’t want to say much more, but the people who buy and sell ads on websites aren’t going to be hackers who can catch the mal-ware packages. These ads will show up anywhere. They do a two month run, infect computers, and then vanish from the PO box without leaving a public trace.

There are programs for XP that can catch and stop any attempted changes to the registry. I don’t see why one would cite security concerns as a good reason to change to Vista.

Alright, that tears it. I’m busting out a second playthrough in a few weeks too. I was worried it wouldn’t be as fun the second time around.

I was thinking the same thing, except on the Hard difficulty and with Vita chambers turned off.

Yeah, this.

And also a thumbtack on the Quicksave button.

No word yet, but I really hope we get the same content as some kind of DLC. I’d be willing to pay for it if these new challenges are mentioned favorably in reviews.

But given the state of PC Gaming/Piracy, etc, I wouldn’t be surprised if the content doesn’t come to the PC. :(

A few weeks ago a friend and I had been talking about BioShock a lot, and got the urge to replay it. A friend of mine has a few more achievements in this game than I do, so I wanted to try it with the above settings. It was totally unfun and made me never want to play the game again.

I’m sure it’s not for everyone, but I’m especially sure it’s not fun whatsoever if you have to use a console controller.

I had the most fun playing Bioshock on the 360 with no vita chambers and hard difficulty. I only died a couple times since the hesitance to conserve health packs and cash was gone. I had no problems with the controller and avoiding the quicksave every 5 steps loop I normally get into only made things better.

How do you turn them off? I’ve just been re-loading when I die.

After you patch the game, it’s in the options menu.

I am also playing it right now, using the new plasmids of the 1.1 version. In Hard difficulty the game is more enjoyable btw. If i die sometimes i quick load again, sometimes i use the vita chamber (if i didn’t save in a long time… ).

Only cookie-selling sissy girls use the Vita chamber.

My first playthrough was on hard. It was fun for the most part but my next playthrough will be on easy so that I can really take in the environment and atmosphere.

I’ve been finding that even on hard the 2nd playthrough is all about appreciating how good the level design is and how immersive the atmospherics are. I find I’m still not playing util its dark, still getting creeped out by the splicer’s dialogue and still jumping when something unexpected happens.

I’m much steadier with the basic play and it allows for a lot less bullet/health/eve scrimping and quicksaving. Its been a long time since I’ve played and though I remember the story, the levels themselves (and Rapture) are a revelation all over again.

That’s the only way I could play the game… with all the lights off and a set of headphones for the aural immersion.

I tried playing during the daytime once but it’s a bit too dark to see the screen, and turning up gamma/brightness to see kind of ruins the visuals and the experience.

Dammit. You people are getting me in the mood to play it a THIRD time, and I blame Bioshock for the radial tunnel diagnosis in my right arm.

Does playing on Easy so you never have to use a Vita chamber qualify as a cookie-selling sissy girl? Although, I do like cookies…

Whatever floats your boat, buddy. I like my gaming to be more challenging than most other people, since FPS games all seem to be too easy at the Normal modes of play… and this is especially true with Bioshock.
