I have good news for Mochi Koro haterz, which is something I’ve become lately. Space Base is Mochi Koro done right! I never would have picked it up if it weren’t for the Patreon review request.

There is also good news for (us) Machi Koro lovers, which is the Rob Daviau is making Machi Koro Legacy:

I don’t care that it sounds like self-parody at this point. I am all in!

Spacebase was the other one whose name I couldn’t remember. I need to try it sometime.

Hey, look @JPR, they made a boardgame of Clive Barker’s In the Hills, the Cities!

Kadath don’t be discouraged heyyyyyyy are you interested in discounted lightly used copies of Carcassone, Ticket To Ride hold on let me look at my collection of old i mean classic games.

I tried Bunny Kingdom by Garfield twice, it is not bad. It plays quickly.

Gross.

I’m actually looking for Ticket To Ride Rails and Sails if you have one cheep!

For those that don’t follow the Bargain thread, Amazon Gold Box board game sale!

I don’t actually. It was mostly a joke about not knowing what to do with a lot of these “ancient” first-wave boardgames I’m honestly probably never playing again: ten types of munchkin, ticket to ride, catan, carcassone. I mean, they came out when… the Nintendo Wii was hot. Who remembers that far back?

I’d foist them on my baby cousins but wouldn’t I rather they play good games?

I found out Wednesday my nephew (9) really enjoys Carcassone. He didn’t do as well with Evo.

I guess I’m a bad board gamer because I still really love Carcassonne and have most of the expansions. Plus it’s something my family will play with me as opposed to heavier stuff that I can really only play digitally with random people.

Anybody have any opinions on the game Flipships? It seems to be it’s lowest price yet on Amazon today.

I agree. We make one small tweak to the rules, each player draws two tiles to start and when they play one, they draw one. It really improves the game.

Otherwise we still play with the assorted expansions. I’ve got the Bix Box 1.0 edition, and definitely still bust it out now and again. Less frequently of late, but still.

A year ago I started Mechs vs Minions w a friend on our annual trip to Grand Lake, CO. He ruptured his Achilles a few weeks prior, and was only about a week removed from surgery to repair it… So he was gimped at the time which allowed us to play boardgames for a few days since we couldn’t hike.

We played 1/2 the game at the time and adored it. He isn’t a hardcore boardgamer, but he loves cooperative games and is happy to tolerate something new from the card games he

We found the strategizing an absolute delight. The game itself was complex enough to remain interesting, but not so complex as to make us remember obscure rules or iverwhelm us with a massive variety if cards. The quality of everything was excellent and the scenario variety was satsifying. The command lines were fun to piece together and even more fun to blow up.

Well, this weekend we were able to complete the rest of the game, and it was maybe my most satisfying overall gaming experience ever. Just great camraderie, the joy of powering you and murdering hordes of minions. An irreverant and humorous world. Really a wonderful experience.

Our only complaint was the bomb towing… We found those sessions the most tedious.

If I haven’t played it, it’s new to me!

Does anyone have some fun deck-builder recommendations? I played Clank! with my buddy, and it is a game I adore, but I don’t feel that the game is long-enough to really take ownership of your deck or your deck-style. It is a very rare came of Clank! where I get my deck svelte and efficient because of the minimal number of card trashing mechanics and the limited number of draws you will experience in the course of a regular game.

Of course Dominions is out there - but does anyone have any other deck-builders that give you a little more deck architecture control?

Have you tried the Upper Deck Legendary games, like Marvel, Aliens, etc?

I have seen that in passing, but comic book stuff has never appealed to much. Should I swing back and take a closer look?

Beyond the Marvel game & expansions, there are also the Aliens, Predator, Buffy, Firefly, and Big Trouble in Little China versions that are supposed to be fun. I only have the Aliens one of the group but it’s great. There’s a lot of synergy between your cards (and some with other characters at times) and, at least for Aliens, it’s pretty thematic.
