Given the large amount of actual multiplayer solitare games out there, I’m surprised by this criticism. Maybe you try and avoid them all, like I do? :) At least in this one you get to dick-over your neighbours by drawing orc-zones in their maps once per round.

There’s not enough there for a 1 hour game, and for now the games are still taking that long. If I could get a dozen games in and start seeing 20-30 minute matches, I expect my rating of the game would get a lot more positive. It was a similar trajectory with Race for the Galaxy.

And in Res Arcana’s favor, this is the first Tom Lehmann game this decade that I actually want to play a dozen games of just to see if I’ll like it.

Speaking of Res, the expansion looks amazingly sparse even by the standards of Race:

I was wondering if anyone has played Las Vegas Royale. It looks like a great filler but I’m worried that it might only stand up to a few plays.

That actually looks pretty substantial to me! I mean, it’s adding something to pretty much every system in the game and even adding a couple of new systems. But I’m a Res Arcana apologist, so it might just be that I’m happy to have more of something that I already liked in the first place.

So who is going to Pax Unplugged?

Has anyone here played or owns bio megafauna 2nd edition or Bios Origins?

I’d love to here some thoughts on it and your experience.

Well, there was a forum game of BIOS Megafauna that you can read in this very forum. I quite like it, specially the climate and tectonic simulation, and pretty much everything about the game but the VP scoring (something a lot of Phil Eklund games have in common, imho. The games are really evocative and cutthroat, but the scoring makes it so that everybody is within a somewhat similar range and feels an artificial attempt to balance something that might not need such a drastic approach).

I also played an abortive playtest of BIOS origins, but the rules were quite in flux then. I loved the overall feel of the game, but hard to evaluate balance or pacing from that play. Waiting for my copy to arrive so I can play it with the “final” rules (which we all know will not be final…).

I’ll be there a much as I can over the weekend, parenting obligations not withstanding.

I’ll be there Saturday and Sunday. I am meeting parental obligations by bringing my 9-year-old.

So uh I played a couple games of the new Marvel LCG and I…wish I were playing it right now? Maybe all the right nows. When you throw down some fantastic card drawing/playing combo and blow Rhino’s face off with Captain Marvel, it feels real good.

I am also waiting for my copy. We’ll have to try again using the real deal:)

I’ve been decimated twice by Rhino…so embarrassing.

(NSFW) TIL Pornhub has its own official tabletop game. What a time to be alive.

Awww, no worries, you’ll get him! I had my best run with Captain Marvel using Aggression, for what it’s worth. That got…violent.

Another good week of new games:

They reskinned Wildlands with 2000AD? Dammit!

Yeah Martin Wallace and Judge Dredd!!
Those names go together like peanut butter and tuna fish. Still, I do like Wildlands and l like me some Judge Dredd.

I’d like it even more if I hadn’t already bought Wildlands.

I think I am done with Mansions of Madness for now. The storage situation needs to be improved before I get any more - I do have a fancy aftermarket solution but it doesn’t have space for the latest two expansions.

Also, what? How is Fantasy Flight selling Talisman? Their edition came from the now defunct Games Workshop deal.

Also, one of the great things about the system was how easy and quick it was to set up. Now you have to sort through 100 double-sided room tiles to find the one you need and it’s just an exercise in frustration. I’ve been done with it for awhile.
