Any opinions on Mystery House: Adventure in a Box ? Looks like Unlock with an elaborate 3D cardboard house you pull numbered cards out of and an app gives you story and puzzles.

That looks like a Cenobite advent calendar.

Looks like the 15th was indeed the release date:

The site gives a direct link for orders. My local game shops still haven’t mentioned the game.

The Dice Tower had a review a while ago, if you aren’t one of three people who can’t stand Tom Vasel. I think he liked it, but I don’t remember him being that effusive about it.

I found this delightful.

Nemesis is my most played game this year. Probably played at least 15 times. Every game has been different. We’ve won some. Lost some and everytime the game has finished we have had an awesome story. It defnitely creates moments that you will remember. The rules can be a bit vague but now should be enough FAQs and updates that it shouldn’t be an issue.

I was really interested in it, but it’s a one and done kind of game. If that doesn’t bother you then seems like a fun little esacpe room.

It does look a lot like Unlock.

My only concern from that review is the synonym problem, where you don’t know if the game wants you to guess “trunk”, “chest”, “case”, or “luggage”.

Regarding Too Many Bones…
Realistically, how many games could 2 people get out of the base game before getting tired of it? I didn’t mind spending 100 plus on Gloomhaven because we enjoyed playing it at least 50 times.

Edit: There is a free digital version of Too Many Bones on BoardGameGeek, supposedly made with Chip Theory’s blessing - even though they are not involved in it at all. May be worth a try to see if you like the game and then buy the board game.

I’d love to play this but I just don’t know anyone who would play this with me certainly not enough to make it interesting.

Way better than the other Rob Daviau post this week (his partner on Machi Koro Legacy and other stuff has been credibly accused of sexual assualt)…

Well that was an awful read. Jr Honeycutt joins the list of truly despicable predatory men in the games industry.

Huh. I really didn’t think I’d sprung for multi-wave shipping for Tainted Grail since I usually do multi-wave projects all in the second wave to save shipping and get the maximum content at once. But I must have because I just got a tracking number from “Realms” something or other in Poland…

Interesting. I think Im getting TG and Nemesis then.

My copy of tainted grail showed up unexpectedly yesterday. Gonna try it this weekend.

I’ve heard that Tainted Grail was crazy! Well, technically speaking what I heard was that it was insane, this guy’s taint…ed grail.

Tainted Grail came for me over the weekend. Looks great! I played through the tutorial scenario and it looks pretty cool to me.

Don’t touch me please, I cannot stand the way you tease!

We’re having our first board game meet up at work on Thursday night - looking forward to it! Good mix of accounting and HR folks so will be interesting. I actually didn’t start it but was quick to help out once people showed interest. Probably some Code Names, Telestrations, and a little Everdell for opening night, plus I’ll probably bring a few more gateway type games, just in case.
