Finally got around to Hammerlock’s on my Siren. Late to the party, but I liked this less than Torgue and Captain Scarlet. I felt like I bumped into more glitches and bugs, and the shaman were just hard enemies on a large steroid diet which was annoying. And I felt like there were a lot more “wade down long passages filled with enemy” sections. I had difficulty with the last boss and hd to abandon trying to kill it, even at level 36. I’ve moved on to playthrough two.
Heh, my Mechromancer is stuck on the Tyrannosaurus-truck thingy in Torque’s DLC; I just wandered off to do other stuff and might go back eventually to finish it. This is on TVHM, at around 41 or so. I just haven’t been able to survive that fire.
I know that it is cheesy, but there is a barrier in that arena that you can hide behind. Cowardly, but effective.

I finished Captain Scarlett, which was the most interesting looking of the 3. Had a lot of fun with it, and the stuff I picked up during the course of the main quest was loads better than the weapons I had, let alone the Knoxx-like pile of treasure you get at the end. Stinkpot alone was grossly overpowered for a Mechromancer, since you don’t actually have to hit the target, just land the shot close, so it does ridiculous amounts of damage with lots of Anarchy stacks. I re-specced to an Anarchy build once I realized that. Apparently I got very lucky to pick that up, since according to the Wiki it’s a rare drop from a unique, non-respawning boss (No Beard).
I’ve decided I like Anarchy well enough once you get Discord, because that offsets all the accuracy penalties, and you can turn it off by manually reloading if you run out of enemies before you run out of Anarchy.
It’s very weird that they let you re-do the end of the main quest in Captain Scarlett. I guess they decided that consistency was less important than making the people who farmed Knoxx happy.

I finished Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage. It’s not bad for the most part, and has only minor instances of arena combat, as people mentioned to me before. It’s nowhere near as good as Captain Scarlett.
The final boss fight is absolutely awful. Battles in a big open space with no cover suck. There’s no room for finesse or skill, it’s all about booting each other in the shins until someone dies, and the first opponent can kill you in a couple of hits. The “proper” solution is mindless circle-strafing, but I found that led to me dying repeatedly, since sooner or later it’s going to get lucky. So I cheesed it: there’s a spot where you can shoot it endlessly where it can’t shoot back. I hate doing that, but that fight was sucking so much donkey dong that I it was acceptable.
I was intrigued by the Torgue currency that you only earn through quests and defeating badass enemies, but by the time I had enough to buy anything, I didn’t want anything from the vending machines. I think this happened because I started the campaign at level 30, and the vending machines didn’t level with me. I suspect this works better on a second playthrough, since advancement is probably not as fast. The deal of the day is always a Legendary item, but so expensive that clearly it’s only practical to buy if you’ve hit the level cap and are just farming tokens. That’s not terribly interesting to me.
I did like getting more Tiny Tina missions. She’s my favorite character.

Rounding out the Season Pass, I finished Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt. It was kind of iffy - I’m glad I got it for ~$3, since it’s definitely worth that, but I’d be slightly annoyed if I’d paid full price.
It seems like practically every quest had some niggling little flaw. As if QA kept sending them back with notes saying “doesn’t suck enough yet.” We’re talking escort quests where the target is hostile to you, and where the re-starting the quest after the target dies is a far hike back. We’re talking quests where you have to find hidden objects, but where the objects are only visible at night, so if you get 4/5 and day breaks, you have to just stand around and wait for the game clock to advance enough to let you continue again. We’re talking a quest that requires that you kill rare, randomly spawned monsters that seems tuned to fall short of the goals when you’re done with everything else, so you have to grind if you want to finish it.
It’s also a tad short. I know, I know, “the food here is awful, and the portions are so small.” The various problems with quests and level designs are not really that awful, it’s just a lot of minor bad ideas that should have been caught in testing. When the DLC was over, I was left with the distinct feeling of “wait, that’s it?”
On the positive side, the final boss was reasonable without being frustrating (i.e. Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage) and there’s a nice selection of loot at the end, enough that I ended up replacing several items with significant upgrades. Though it felt a bit unearned, like I hadn’t done enough to get it, unlike Captain Scarlett where the pile of loot seemed appropriate given how much story build-up there was about the hidden treasure vault. Big Game Hunt is also tactically a little more complex than the rest of the game, because the Witch Doctors are both tough and very effective support troops, so taking them out first is a priority. In most Borderlands combat, there are no real target priorities - it’s whatever it’s most closest, most of the time.

So, I looted my very first Orange class mod. Which happened to be for the unreleased Psycho class.
