I see this and I think, “Yay for the new DLC!”

Then I read this and I think, “Boo for the new DLC!”

While it is a story-driven narrative full of fetch quests and one loud sassy mouth in your earpiece, these instances are tied together with arena battles reminiscent of the many hours I spent in Moxxi’s Underdome.

Then I read this and I think, “Enh… Maybe?”

And all of my progress wasn’t for naught. A big problem with Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot is how none of your progress transcends that DLC prison – once in the arena, you don’t get experience points and level up. Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage chooses to sidestep that rule and doesn’t force you into a series of claustrophobic arenas – it mixes things up by sending you to completely new areas in-between the arena battles.

I’d enjoy some good arena combat, just for god’s sake don’t make it last as long as the “Normal” length arenas in Underdome. The “Short” Underdome arenas (And the arenas in vanilla Borderlands 2) were about right for me. Just throw in a bunch of randomly rolling modifiers (And maybe randomly generated arena bosses?) and I’d be happy.

Unfortunately that doesn’t mention anything about the arenas and mostly just talks about Torgue for some reason. Guess I’ll see on Tuesday.

Tried the DLC for a bit…ouch. At 41, TVHM, Mechromancer, that damn arena is nasty. I shudder to think what it’d be like for my Assassin.

Now out for Mac on Steam!

MacUpdate is also selling keys for $45 instead of normal $60, but note that this doesn’t include the mechromancer.

Mechromancer and season pass dlc also work on Mac, except that the new torque add on hasn’t been ported yet (supposedly about a week out).

TVHM just makes the game unfun, I think I will roll a new character and just play the DLCS as they come out.

I’ve enjoyed TVHM so far; having to deal with resistances is a nice, challenging (but not TOO challenging) change of pace. Though I just hit what I assume is the final boss of the Scarlet DLC and can’t even get it down to half health.

EDIT: No sooner do I type that than I beat the boss on my next attempt. Started the Torque DLC; not much to say yet except that the XP gain seems to be triple that of the Scarlet DLC; gained half a level in about 20 minutes of play.
