Got past the first arena fight on my Mechro; the new DLC is actually pretty cool, but yeah, TVHM varies for me between nice challenge and #$%@% you, game.
Haven’t gotten that far in TVHM yet (gotten to Sanctuary the first time) but so far I’d say the second playthrough is easier than the first, because you have much better weapons and much more ammo. Yes, enemies take more bullets to kill, and there are some armored enemies and a few wrinkles early (corrosive bullymongs…that’s just mean) but I’ve enjoyed it in the early stages.

I wish Borderlands followed this particular rule from RPS’s Do and Don’t

Yeah I’m at a part which took me about 90 mins and my kids came home a bit earlier and I had to stop and now I need to do it all again, very frustrating as my gaming time is sometimes limited.
It starts that way but for me after 40 or so it got much harder. Many more one shots, even with fast 20k+ shields. But it is definitely more challenging.
As working professionals and parents become a bigger part of the gaming demographic, developers really need to pay attention to this.
pause. Don’t quit, pause. Only down side is it screws calculation of your play time.
We’ve been over this before. We don’t like the checkpoints that only save the character progress (levels, inventory, and money) while leaving monster spawns and geographical position largely unsaved. Unfortunately for us, many people really like this aspect of the ARPG genre. They like having the opportunity to grind areas for XP or a specific piece of loot. People love killing the same bad guy again and again to try to get some uber doohickey that drops from him 0.00001% more often than anywhere else.
Remember Pindleskin runs in Diablo II?
I agree with you, but on the other hand BL2 is about killing things and taking their stuff. So from the dev’s standpoint, so what if you have to do it again?
You’re basically doing the same thing the whole game, anyway.

Yeah I agree somewhat but this bit seems way longer than anything else, and seemed a step up in difficulty, it’s the bit after Angel where you need the explosives, not sure of the zone but it was real hard going, also there is a raise the flag quest there. The best part of 2 hours is too long for a zone not to have a point where it actually saves the game even if the enemies behind me had respawned so I could keep moving forward would have been better.
Last night I did the dlc lighthouse mission for a second time instead as its pretty quick and I just didn’t think I would have enough time to finish the quest above, maybe I should level up a bit more before doing it, 29 atm
That’s ultimately a bit of a different problem. I fully agree that many of the missions are too long. Especially hateful are the side missions that say “Go here, do this” only to “blossom” into a string of 5-6 additional missions, all of which must be done, and all of which are relatively straightforward if you do them at that time but which require endless re-clearing of areas if you have to stop because you didn’t budget 2 hours for what you thought was a 15 minute mission.
What the game really needs is a quicksave slot that does what game trainers do:
I hit the button, you dump the state of the game including current zone population, respawn timer, loot locations, etc. When I restart, you allow me to start from that location and effectively just restore the memory and delete the save (to prevent cheesy boss farming). If I restart from somewhere else, you also delete the save. I have one of these slots per character.
I worry about that sort of thing, since avoiding damage is very much not my strong suit, especially playing Salvador, as I currently am.

huh. how many hp do you have?
melee Zer0 is hard to kill. I die occasionally but I guess the combination of Ir0n Hand and Resurgence is pretty strong as long as there’s something you can kill in Deception. I’ve certainly never been one-shotted, and I can melee down a medium-size goliath without getting killed if I have to.
On the mech, about 18k health, maybe a bit more. I’m fully elemental/ damage spec, though, with minimal self healing. It isn’t really one shooting so much as two shotting, usually by super badasses with explosive attacks that wipe out shields and health at once more or less. Gaige is not that durable to begin with. If Deathtrap had a snare it would help.
And is vulnerable to a child turning off the console, even with good intentions. :)
Frankly, I never even considered that folks were on a console.
On the flip side, my understanding of the way things work is that all you have to do is run back past a save point and even if someone turned it off you’d be saved at that point. Is that not the case on the console? Do you have to hard save? If so, that sucks. If not, run back to the most recent checkpoint, then pause! :)

well, it saves the game in terms of what equipment you have and that sort of thing, but if you turn off the game (even on the PC) and turn it back on, you restart in Sanctuary, not in the middle of Caustic Caverns or wherever you were.
The save points are actually more accurately described as spawn points.

ah ok. My level 48 Zer0 has a 22k shield and 32k health and nine levels in Resurgence due to a mod, so on a melee kill he regains up to 36% of his health. That’s a pretty wide gap.

…that said, boy I died a lot in Opportunity. Badass Constructor 2.0 is tough.
