So with all these codes, do you all still recommend not opening your special chest until you are a higher level or should you just open it but then constantly pop in these codes?

(Is that how these codes work? I haven’t found a special chest yet I just got to sanctuary.)

Here’s what I did: Waited until level 15, opened one. Any time after that my gear was extremely far behind, I opened one. With how many keys I’ve picked up from Facebook and Twitter, I’ve never had an issue with running out.

Nice thing about the gear you get from keys is you can recycle it to new characters leveling up later on.

I wouldn’t bother at 10, personally. When you get close to 15, make sure to do the mission “Safe and Sound” for Marcus, but don’t turn it in to him. You will get a shotgun as a reward that you can easily use for 5-10 levels.

Shotguns are – by far – the worst weapons in the game. Why would you want to get in melee range with your enemies so they can kill you easier?

It doesn’t matter when you enter the codes (you do it from the title screen before loading a chat) and it just increases the number of keys you have on your profile.

It’s when you use the keys is the key - if you follow the twitter and Facebook soon you will have plenty to use - and then you can just use them through the game every few levels to provide support.

I"m not following the feed, but if you go to the page on FB, they seem to be showing up okay.

FWIW, I’ve also been using the fabulous public twitter link that was posted by Misguided upthread (https://twitter.com/lewispollak/borderlands#).
