My record is about 50/50 on the keys. Sometimes I’ll get a cool new gun and sometimes I’ll get another damn shield.

I’m happy that they’ve been giving out codes for 5 keys lately. I have my 39 Axton in TVHM now and I’m finding it really hard to come up with a decent gun. Just got up to Tiny Tina as a matter of fact and the varkyds kick the crap out of me if they get a chance to upgrade.

I feel like the keys are real solid for the times when you just start to out level your gear and nothing good has dropped. This happens more in the 10-30 range if you’re playing single player.

I usually find myself seriously undergunned/shielded coming into Lynchwood, but that’s also most of the fun of the zone so I don’t bother using a key :/

Varkyds are mean.

Yes. Yes they are.

The “trouble” spots seem to be the same for each playthrough(first constructor, varkids, sawtooth), so while in theory you should use your keys then and also in theory it seems like they are gonna hand out keys pretty freely for the foreseeable future…

I just can’t. Whatever form of gaming hoarding syndrome that has been baked into me by years of unused MegaLixirs just won’t let me use a finite key to get some gear that will almost certainly be replaced in 2-3 levels.

That’s my experience exactly. I’ve got a few amazing guns over time, but mostly it’s pretty good grenades and decent shields.

The amazing guns make it all worthwhile, however. My level 44 automatic fire elemental pistol still just makes me giggle.

Hey, shields are also useful. :P

You and me both, brother, you and me both…
(which explains my 50+ unused keys)

It’s easier to use them when everyone is standing around the chest and watching the results. Three people just using 2 keys gives my group a good chance to find something fun for at least one person if not all three.

I don’t know how many of you folks actually play on the Mac, but the versions are now in sync. Cross-platform with PC will work until the PC patches again.

I have a question about this game.

I’m currently playing with my brother Borderlands 1 in coop and the problem I have with the game is that I had more fun playing Killzone 3 in coop and insane difficulty. This simply because if you die in Killzone 3 you have to repeat the section, and this forces you to play better and pay at least some attention.

The problem with Borderlands instead is that it’s too much a mindless shooter. If you do the side missions you tend to outpace in levels the content, and everything is trivial. And then even when you meet an hard boss you always have a respawn nearby (and the respawn cost is completely irrelevant). So there’s zero difficulty, even the strongest enemy will die. It’s simply a matter of time and eventually it will drop out of boredom. It’s like you wear off the enemies instead of fighting them.

So is there some challenge in Borderlands 2 or you can also wear down content, especially the bosses?

All those features you list that are issues with you remain. If you did not like Borderlands 1, I cannot imagine anything that they did with 2 that would change your mind except cleaning up the UI I bit.

Well, I disagree. It is much harder to outlevel the storyline missions and playthrough 2 (if that is your thing) is truly challenging. Also, the bosses reset when you respawn, so you have to be ready to take them on.

Now, the original final boss is a bland fight, but writing and voice acting are pretty top notch and well worth the experience.

My team, three of us, out-leveled the story repeatedly. I played exclusively coop the entire time.

A bare minimum would be enough. I hear there are faster respawns, so maybe it matters more.

In Borderlands 1 there’s really no difficulty, even a kid could play it. You die a lot, but when you respawn 30 seconds away and without any mob respawn it simply means that it’s EXACTLY like playing in god mode. It’s simply a shallow experience and it makes everything quite boring.

Man, what is it with 50% off sales on the base Borderlands 2 game (this is like the fifth since launch) that completely fail to discount the DLC at all?

That too will come. The DLC is still new, though, so not yet.

None of the DLC packages have looked all that interesting to me. For example, from what I’ve read the Torgue DLC is mostly about arena combat, and I hate arena combat. It strips the game of the exploration aspect, and removes the planning that goes with attacking an enemy position.

My experience is that sooner or later the DLC will go on sale at $2.50 each. I can wait for that.

There’s been enough chances to get BL2 for $30 or so (including GMG preorders at very close to that) that you’d think most people interested at that price would have it by now. Time to sell some DLC. Doesn’t have to be 50% off, doesn’t have to hit all of the DLC… but none of it?
