None of the DLC packages have looked all that interesting to me. For example, from what I’ve read the Torgue DLC is mostly about arena combat, and I hate arena combat. It strips the game of the exploration aspect, and removes the planning that goes with attacking an enemy position.

My experience is that sooner or later the DLC will go on sale at $2.50 each. I can wait for that.

I don’t mean to persuade you to buy the Torgue DLC before it goes on sale, but the vast majority (perhaps 75%?) of the time you spend in the Torgue DLC isn’t done in arena combat. Like you, I don’t like arena combat, but I found the DLC to be ok.

There was a brief time GMG did a DLC sale during Christmas for 50% off, plus they had some sort of extra coupon, but I think I ended up getting the DLC season pass and the Mecromancer class for $12 or so during that time because of the sale and coupon.

Yeah, I bought three of the season passes from GMG for 10.50 each I think.

The Torgue DLC does have some arena fights, but there’s quite a bit of other stuff, and it is all in context of the story. I thought it was a lot more fun than I expected. If you can appreciate the humor of Torgue, himself, and the completely over-the-top wrestling vibe, it is pretty good.

A bare minimum would be enough. I hear there are faster respawns, so maybe it matters more.

In Borderlands 1 there’s really no difficulty, even a kid could play it. You die a lot, but when you respawn 30 seconds away and without any mob respawn it simply means that it’s EXACTLY like playing in god mode. It’s simply a shallow experience and it makes everything quite boring.

I would have had the same problem in Borderlands 1 (for example, I hate playing games like Diablo II with immortal characters for the same reason, it just feels like god mode), but I never died in that game (Borderlands 1), and when I did, it was in the arenas, where the arena reset and you had to start over from the beginning anyway, so that was like loading a saved game.

That’s why the second wind mechanic was so brilliant in that game. If death is going to be meaningless in your game, you’d better have a way of making sure most players never die. Which is what they did in Borderlands 1. (I still haven’t played the sequel, since I’m not finished with the DLC of the first one, which is a gazillion-billion hours long).

Yes, but the problem is even WORSE in coop. In the arena you respawn 5 seconds away. So the encounter resets only in the IMPOSSIBLE event that EVERYONE dies within those five seconds.

In practice it means you can die over and over and eventually the monster health reaches the zero.

My wife and I have played together through 3/4ths of the game and are level 25. Tonight, we can’t connect. No matter what we do. Turn off firewalls, restart computers, and verify the integrity of game cache. We can see each other in steam and send various invites, but BL2 will not connect.

Very frustrating that this shit is still happening in 2013.

Edit: switched Network Options to LAN, then clicked Find Game and it worked. Sigh.
