Gearbox just announced at PAX East that Borderlands will be getting a free Ultimate Vault Hunter NG+ mode on April 2nd which will allow players at level 50 to start a third run.
The game will also get DLC that allow players to get to level 61 which will be free to Season Pass owners, or $5 on its own.
Finally, the new DLC character is a psycho bandit named Krieg.
His action skill is Blood Axe Rampage, which allows him to regain health while attacking an enemy. His Skill Trees include Bloodlust, Mania and Hellborn.
New codes from PAX East. Good for three keys:

The new additions are really good. The 4th DLC is still incoming and developed internally by Gearbox, so it’s hopefully great.
And the level cap plus the new Vault Hunter mode are new content that is free for season pass. So they are offering nice stuff either for free or a small fee ($5).
You really can’t demand much more.
P.S.
The fourth DLC has also been called the biggest ever made, including BL1 and 2.

Charging $5 for strictly a level cap increase seems absurd to me. I think this does the best job of illustrating what felt off about Borderlands 2 for me in comparison to the first; the first game had 3 content DLC and a 4th came along at a later date when there was proven demand while this one has been advertising DLC since before release and monetizing everything they think they can make a buck on.
I’ll take Borderlands 2’s DLC over the DLC in Borderlands, even with the push for more money. I think the quality of the main Borderlands 2 DLC has been much higher. I’ve ignored the goofy costume DLC they’ve offered.
The only thing I find a little sneaky about the upcoming situation is that they’re going to let UVH mode unlock for everyone at level 50, but the actual ability to progress will be effectively locked unless you pay $5 or have the Season Pass since you won’t be able to gain levels to fight stuff. Is it scummy? Not really, since you can just ignore it and be satisfied with what you already have, but it is sneaky if you try to move forward without knowing about the DLC.
Gearbox let slip on their forums that the free update will also increase space in your inventory.
There will be inventory/backup/storage increases in the update (Free update). More ammo SDU’s will be available in the black market along with eridium maximums increased.
And I’m more than happy with that if it means we get more content, and eventually, a Borerlands 3.
