Since the dawn of forum kind, when our ancestors first discovered the trolling power of usenet, posts have been made in the name of everything: from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage.
In the year 2019, after decades of forum conflict, the destructive nature of trolls could sustain itself no longer. The forum was plunged into an abyss of trolling and flaming.
But it was not, as some had predicted, the end of the forum. Instead, the apocalypse was simply the prologue to another angry chapter of forum history. For man had succeeded in destroying the thread – but shitposting, shitposting never changes.
Whenever shitposting like this happens, I can’t help but think of this image:

I object to calling half the population stupid or racist, and on here that makes me the bad guy :)

No, but suddenly showing up and spewing out ten posts in quick succession about how we all need to change is the forum equivalent of a manic street preacher. You’re not going to be reported for what you think, just how you act.
Statistically speaking, half the population has below average intelligence. At what point in the spectrum you’d call someone stupid is debatable. Me? I call myself stupid from time to time because I do stupid things. Voting for Trump is a stupid thing (which I thankfully didn’t do), but a good chunk of the US public did. Now in my mind, they either did so because they were stupid (which can be a passing thing) or racist (which is an attack on their character). At this point, calling them stupid is being generous.

Hello, new user! Unfortunately it seems you chose one of the few threads in P&R not about US politics to start a conversation about Hillary Clinton. You may wish to check out some of the other topics here, they may be more relevant to your interests. In the meantime:
Plenty of links upthread pointing to some of the numbers for people voting for ethno-nationalist/white supremacist reasons. One third/5,000,000 racists seems about right. Covers UKIP voter numbers too (27% of the 2014 electorate)
and the other two thirds certainly hold responsibility for empowering and enabling those overt racists.
Good lord for a guy who “doesnt care” our repeat returning fascist nutcase sure does want to talk with “lefties” a lot.

It just always seems to go this way.
On some level, if folks chilled out, and it didn’t always ramp up to 11 in the FIRST thread these people post in, and they had a chance to read some of the stuff you guys post that isn’t just attacking them directly, you might win them over.
This isn’t to say it’s not the fault of them antagonizing you, it is. But it’s unproductive at best.
It’s always like, kill this guy! Then they get banned, and it’s over, and you are left with the same small group of people talking, forever.
I think you are describing a putative sane conservative though. They are often welcomed and post here regularly.
Its the crazy loons who we all rightly tell to bugger off right? Happy to be argued with here. I could be wrong.
