I agree, but that’s why it won’t happen.*
*At least at this stage. There’s a small chance of a revocation just before the October deadline, which leads to a no-confidence vote, which leads to a general election. But it’s not going to be an active choice by the PM.

The two mainstream* Brexit parties in the UK right now.
Alt right rapists and neonazis
@AntediluvianArk asked me about the phrase “classical liberal” in the games journalism 2019 thread, and what it actually means these days.
In what moral universe is the statement “I wouldn’t even rape you” categorised as “satire”? For this is how – in an interview on Sunday with the BBC’s Andrew Marr – Gerard Batten, Ukip’s leader, described a tweet sent to the Labour MP Jess Phillips in 2016 by Carl Benjamin, now one of his party’s principal candidates in the European elections.
According to Batten, Benjamin is a “classical liberal”, “not a bad person”, “a proponent of free speech” and “wasn’t actually making a literal statement”. And there we were, thinking that he was just a vile misogynist, using social media to declare whether, in his opinion, a member of parliament should be raped or not.
Benjamin was also, I kid you not, tweeting about cucks on the UKIP official account.
and then there’s the party formed by Nigel Farage when he split from UKIP due to it being “taken over by the far right and racists”

Theresa May is apparently currently on a walking holiday in Wales.
I am terrified by what she might have decided to do when she gets back.
She makes the best decisions on walking holidays!

Can she ask political refugee status in Wales and never return to London?
OMG, when I read this I first thought it said a “wanking holiday.”
Guess UKIP will go full fash any day now seeing they ok with an anti-feminist pro-rape platform.
edit: Oh, “full fash any day now” = ages ago, because i missed the story.

Newly created Brexit Party is on track to win the European elections.
It’s hilarious how obviously guilty Phil Campion is in that video and how hard he’s trying to control anger.
Win meaning “get a minority of MEPs”. Notable too, though not at all surprising, that almost all of their gains are coming from UKIP (duh) and the Tories.
Edit: I’m also a bit skeptical about the value of polls for these elections, given how unusual they are and how low turnout is likely to be. I don’t know how you build a likely voter model for this one. It could turn out that Brexiteers are massively over-represented among actual voters, or the opposite. Quite possibly depending on events that happen between now and the election.

And so what? If the other parties lean strongly remain, and they should, stripped of their Brexit MP’s, Remain is in the strong majority consensus.
27% is also what UKIP got last time. It’s not like this would be a big change in the make-up of MEPs. Well, not counting all the defections and such, anyway. There wouldn’t be many more Euroskeptics, I mean.

If you consider Conservative as Leave and Labour as Remain then the results tally up as:
51% - Remain
49% - Leave
A microcosm of the general Brexit vote I think.

But I don’t think you can consider Conservatives as Leave if the Brexit party is an option. There’s a large swathe of Conservative voters (and MP’s) who want to Remain (as much as May’s rhetoric implies otherwise), and they’d make the majority of the Conservatives if that’s the case.
Like everyone has been saying, it’s the crazies who have been guiding the ship. Taking them off the titanic and putting them on their own little canoe so we can swerve: sounds great.
