UK parties opening speeches at EU.

British nationalists lecturing other people about oppression would be funny if it weren’t so damned pathetic.

Yeah Anne Widdecombe is not anyone I’d ever choose to represent me.

And talking about oppressed people is opening up a huge own goal IMHO, because Britain had a rather large empire, and for better or worse empires involve oppression to some degree.

Silly woman, national embarrassment.

For those who don’t know her, she’s basically the female Jacob Rees Mogg. Subscribes to a deeply conservative form of catholicism (she converted to protest the ordination of women in the CoE). Weirdly anachronistic. Even in her “prime” as a cabinet minister was considered out there by colleagues.

She’s a homophobic piece of shit (comments about her support for gay cures are above in the thread), and racist as fuck to compare their attempts at fascist ethno-nationalism is the same as emancipation from slavery.

As always, every time a Brexiter opens their mouth a torrent of toxic shit spews forth.

Yaxley-Lennon convicted again.

Boris is on course to win the leadership contest (no surprise).

He looks like an actor hired to play the role of a British leader who is almost immediately removed to spend the rest of his days making racist toys.

The idiocracy can only be lead by the King of Idiots, the Lord of Fools, Johnson the Clown Prince.

A perfect representation of the victory of ignorance over knowledge and wisdom.

Sounds like us and trump:

I just know trump will sell state secrets when he’s out and he will claim he has ultimate power to share (SELL/BRIBE) whatever he wants because he’s king… no matter how much it hurts the country as a whole.

His record of fuck ups, insults, mistakes, negligence and incompetance stretch back decades. He lies as frequently as Trump too, will say whatever he thinks will win him support from the people in front of him and just makes it up on the spot.

He’s one of the worst holders of the Great Offices of State in British history, and that includes the inbred, syphilis addled opium addicts of earlier centuries. His role as Foreign Secretary was defined by disaster and incompetence.

Only a fool or a troll would support Johnson.

The NHS is doomed. The free market hypercapitalists amongst the Brexiters politicians have it all lined up ready for sell off and Johnson, Gove, IDS et al are utterly owned heart and soul by US healthcare companies.

On the plus side, the Brexiter boomers will die off quicker, and perhaps once they’ve sold their houses to pay for their medical expenses they might regret their actions. I expect they would rather die slow deaths than see more brown faces though.

There was that guy with cancer here in the US that they interviewed. He was dying and they asked him if he supported universal health care and he said no, then the blacks would get it. Up to that point I hadn’t seen it so bare, it’d always been implied.

New opinion poll:

No deal: 38%
Any deal: 22%
(Total Leave: 60%)
Remain: 31%
Don’t Know: 9%

https://whatukthinks.org/eu/questions/dont-you-care-on-what-terms-britain-leaves-the-eu-so-long-as-we-leave-as-soon-as-possible-or-do-you-want-to-make-sure-britain-gets-the-best-possible-deal-when-it-leaves-or-are-you-opposed-to-brexit/

Well, all I can say is I’m glad I got out 22 years ago! Yowzers.

Interesting, so somehow they continue to convince more and more of the public over time? I wonder if the remain people who are changing their minds are just fed up of being in limbo.

Ah nevermind, I clicked on the link, your interpretation of that question is very interesting.

Her was the actual question:

Full question: Which of the following statements, if any, best describes your view? I don’t care how or on what terms Britain leaves the European Union as long as we leave as soon as possible/ I want to make sure that Britain gets the best possible deal when it leaves the European Union, regardless of how long it takes/ I am opposed to Brexit and want to see it reversed no matter what deal Britain gets

You translated the first answer as No Deal, the second answer as Any Deal, and the third answer as Remain, and “None of the Above” to that question as “Don’t know”.

Which I think is a very weird interpretation of that question.

Here, I found a question in that same poll that better measures it, I think:

Are you supportive of remaining in the EU, of a Brexit where the UK is closely aligned with the EU, or of a Brexit where the UK has a clear break from the EU?

Response:

Supportive of Remaining in the EU 39%
Supportive of Brexit where UK is closely aligned with EU 13%
Supportive of Brexit where UK has a clear break from the EU 41%
Don’t know 8%

To be honest the poll I posted is somewhat misleading. Perhaps due to the question that was asked - I’m not sure. The same website has a “poll of polls” that shows Remain leading.

Remain: 52%
Leave: 48%

Is that actually a respected polling outlet?
