There is not a single person in the last category who isnt a hard right/far right mid Atlantic Thatcherite/Libertarian Fanatic/Fascist or Marxist/Maoist/revolutionary socialist.

While I’m not a minority so this may be my ignorance, but I really don’t think Britain would be as evil and nasty as the U.S. in this respect. In fact, this never would have happened if we had fair representation (direct vote for president). See we have a special kind of evil permeating our society and it’s on the backs of Fundamentalist Evangelical Christians. You don’t have that hardcore nutbag society comprising 55% of every single Southern state. So right off the bat you don’t have the level of insanity driving things. You simply have greed, stupidity, ignorance, and racism driving yours. You take those 4 and add the Taliban on top and you end up with concentration camps.

We invented concentration camps, and our wealth is looted from around the globe and wrung from millions of corpses. None of it went away. Our culture didnt mature. It was just repressed. Dont think inhumane conditions in Yarls Wood or those killed due to forcible deportation dont exist already.

It is entirely consistent to be a liberal, endorse a wide variety of views as liberal, and contemptuously ridicule anything falling outside those views.

If you’ve read all of my posts you will see at some point i said and thought Draxen was racist and wanted Brexit for more xenophobic ideals. But I listened to his arguments and have evolved my understanding of his situation and what he wants. So I’m not close minded like some and am always fair and honest with both my opinions and those given by others.

That being said, when I look at the entirety of Draxen’s comments, statements, Brexit’s trajectory, and the REALITY of what is going to happen… you know, the kind of reality where global warming has been confirmed - but a few stray jerks want to claim there’s no problem - well 1+1 does not = 3.

Here in America, being a liberal tends to mean you’re more compassionate, empathetic, giving, educated, realistic, and objective vs. republicans or libertarians.

So once again, taking an objective look at the entirety of this discussion Draxen comes across as a right-wing Libertarian, not an American type of Liberal. Brexit will decimate the poor and lower middle class. There is no doubt that will happen. Tories under Boris will gut the programs the less fortunate depend on. Boris has already touted the insanity of bringing some of America’s worst ideas to Britain.

So to summarize - Draxen openly celebrating Boris while the rest of the country gasps in horror leads me to believe only one conclusion. Draxen is not what he claims to be. It’s like someone supporting trump for being fake anti-abortion, and then telling himself over and over that it’s OK trump is killing kids and destroying the rest of our country.

Yes the Americans see liberal as a purely left-wing construct when in the usual accepted sense of the word it isn’t.

To contemptuously disregard something without proper thought I would say is distinctly illiberal. I can understand a liberal disliking fascism but only after looking at what it really means. It is the same when looking at other viewpoints. Liberalism isn’t counting the chickens before they hatch.

Currency values go up and down from any major happening. It is not unusual. It will go up again.

Brexit hasn’t happened yet. For something to improve and get better, the thing that determines whether or not it will has to happen first. Can you eat the cookie without putting it in your mouth first?

He was saying even trump isn’t stupid enough to leave a decent trade deal, and the trade agreements you have with the EU are good, leaving it via hard Brexit is stupid beyond belief. And if you think a new trade deal with the United States is going to save your ass - say goodbye to everything you hold dear in dear old Britain. This ain’t post WWII reconstruction where America is the good guy.
