I guess it’s not surprising that, of all the democracies, the two parties of the two countries that defended white minority rule in South Africa after everyone else turned against it, have gone all-in on defending white privilege and identity in their own countries.

This is an excellent Twitter thread directed against Andrew Roberts’ argument (in the Telegraph) that Boris Johnson is the modern equivalent of Cromwell, acting on behalf of the people against a corrupt establishment.

If some people in Parliament can legitimately reject May’s deal as the wrong sort of Brexit and not be thwarting the will of the people, other people in Parliament can reject Johnson’s no deal as the wrong sort of Brexit and not be thwarting the will of the people.
