Has a PM ever done this post WWII?

I don’t think this will happen. If it does, well, we’ve got something resembling a rogue executive taking control by shutting down the legislature, and that’s serious enough that we should all be protesting. But I don’t think it will happen.

Isn’t the fact he’s even looking into this, an already serious situation?

That picture is the stuff of nightmares.

It is, but talk - especially from this PM - is cheap.

He’s spent the last few days lying his fucking teeth off, of course.

Even as something as minor as pork pie, he just has to fucking lie and lie and lie. Brexit and Brexiters in a nutshell.

Boris on track to win majority if there is a snap election ;)
Seats: CON 364, LAB 182, LD 48, BXP 0

Do you twirl the ends of your mustache when you chortle like that? Because that’s how I picture it.

Draxen is literally erect at the thought of people suffering and in misery. Do you slowly stroke yourself whilst reading the Yellowhammer predictions? Pictures of empty shelves and pharmacies get you going? Brexiters are a bunch of fucking psychopaths. Come on, a far right ultranationalist government is about to inflict a generation of downturn and hardship and who knows what else and this *** is more or less masturbating in delight.

Fucking.

Psychos.

There’s no way a Trump supporter would get away with littering the Trump threads with happy little posts, smileys and memes every time Trump or the GOP claimed a victory or an advantage.

He is kinda like a british malathor

I finally muted him. It’s fine to have a different opinion but the little smiley face in his post revealed his true intentions.

Malathor did for quite some time, although it’s true he was eventually banned after 2+ years of that behavior.

The major difference as I see it is that Malathor only trolled P&R threads. Draxen posts in several different threads discussing various topics, he’s not here strictly to troll you and other Brits.

I didn’t realize Malathor was banned, that seems sad, because I feel that he’s going to have a come to jesus moment at some point.

It’s possible to have a come to Jesus moment for Conservatives, but it’s clear that happens when another Conservative they respect does so. It’s also why so much time and effort has been made by Conservative media and think-tanks to flood their mind space with “respectable” Conservatives that reject “the other side’s” position.

Like, just recently I had some Petroleum industry guys forward me an article defending the idea that global warming is happening, that CO2 is largely derived from anthropogenic activity, and that the multivariate evidence points to CO2 as the cause, and that multiple data points around the world validate this perspective. But they didn’t hear it from a “liberal” source, but a Petroleum Engineering source, and so now, that a Petroleum Engineer validates it, it might be true.

Guys like Malathor and other here who have unshakable Conservative “priors” aren’t going to change a heartbeat of their position until the “rational people’s consensus”, the Conservatives they respect and follow, changed their mind first; and they will give hardly any credence to the liberal sources that came before which came to the same conclusion. It’s only Conservatives whose priors are not so strongly held by their unshakable faith in these intuitions that you can make some progress with.

I dunno, I think Malathor plunged headfirst into the hard right when he got mad about having to learn about pronouns other than he and she.

Maybe, tbh i don’t remember that particular episode in the Saga of Malathor so you’re probably right.

I agree with this. One of the real problems we face is that the systematic merchandising of outrage and “pwn the Libs” sentiment on the right makes it so that the right wing media is strongly incentivized to keep on going to the extreme, never back down, don’t acknowledge reality, etc.

It’s kind of funny; I’m an insurance defense attorney and I noticed that, in the boring green eye shade world of actuaries and underwriting, the reality of climate change as a business expense and a serious risk factor began to be acknowledged within the industry over a decade ago. So I often talk to insurance management types who are very hard right generally but nonetheless acknowledge climate change b/c they’ve seen the spreadsheets with the risk factors right there. It’s similar to Enidigm’s story about the petroleum engineers.

If only there was a way to spread the dry, boring, but factual and realistic approach of engineers and actuaries to more general discourse. Sadly, the merchants of outrage at Fox etc. are going in the opposite direction.

You know what makes me so angry? Liberals never did ANYTHING to hurt them. We’ve only ever tried to do things that would help them (maybe not the richest, but certainly the middle class and poorest Republicans). Yet they want to punish us for being good to them?
