Who is JRM?

Edit, ahh Jacob Reese Mogg

If you combine the break down of the rule of law post with JRMs comments what you have is a fascist government who will impose restrictions that will knowingly kill people in order to create a hard right ethno-nationalist state. His comments are utterly damning coming from a government minister.

We must stop thinking this is normal politics, (or opinions or “free speech”) we are on the brink of a full hard right fascist government here. At best we need an Orange Revolution. At worst it devolves into an insurgency.

Electing orange people hasn’t worked out well for us here in the States.

and we’re now at the point that anything coming out of government is likely to be a lie.

Nevermind all that Brexit nonsense. The PM has a new dog :)

The Tory party has of course been the English National Party for some time. It wasn’t so long ago it didn’t have a single MP in Scotland or Wales (or NI, but that doesn’t really count).

And don’t forget that other great British exit that was inspired by a Tory government some 240 years ago.

Was hoping for some Rage Against the Machine.

Fools on Parade seems tailor made for this.

Drum and bass 4 life

I love this part of Boris’s speech:

Let’s see… on the one side, 27 nations who have remained remarkably (and surprisingly) united in their handling of the issues of Brexit. On the other side a government that has repeatedly sold its voters promises it has no way to keep, blames the other side for everything, and continually misrepresents the position of its opposing party in the negotiation.

Yes, I’m absolutely sure that the EU is ready for a deal… on exactly the same conditions that they have offered for the past year.

This is all very depressing. I am 100% totally English. I live in the sort of house Jane Austen grew up in. I like cream teas. I enjoy ‘the remains of the day’, and monty python. And yet here I am wondering If I could come to terms with moving to Canada or New Zealand. I’m so shit at languages I couldn’t move anywhere non english speaking, and the USA is a bit too ‘RA RA GUNZ!’ for me.

But I dont want to live under an ignorant fascist moron so…

Well that rules us out right there.

Scandinavia is always an option - everyone here speaks English, to the point that when I lived in Sweden, I spoke more English with the Swedes, than my - by now - mish-mash Nordic (despite the Nordic languages being relatively easily understandable if one makes the effort - the effort just often wasn’t worth it compared to simply switching to English). You’d also love Norway’s love affair with Tesla’s (>50% of all new cars that get sold in Norway now are electric, and the proportion of Teslas on the road in the cities now is just crazy).

Still two months to go, though. The opposition to Johnson haven’t been impressive so far, but he’s not gotten away with his power grab yet - and a snap election, which is what he seems to be angling for now, won’t necessarily deliver to him the result he hopes for.

We would love you in NZ Cliff. However, there’s been a series of stories similar to this recently:

A lot of UK migrants are finding adjusting to NZ a little hard.

And when is he planning on sleeping?

And I am guessing there are public order laws that can be invoked to remove him.

Well there’s a very good chance that chairman Corbin would welcome a no deal scenario, so no reason to be effective at this time.

Ironic you should say that, as I’ve had the exact same thoughts regarding the U.S. and thinking about those two countries as alternatives as well. Here’s hoping 2020 sees a massive turnaround for the U.S. Maybe Britain can get it’s anti-fascist political parties to align better and oppose the Tories and Brexit parties.

Just got back from Oslo. The most basic staples like bread and even tap water are so enormously superior to the US and most of the rest of Europe, they’re almost enough to motivate immigration by themselves.
