A middle class guide to surviving climate change and the collapse of western liberal democracy:
- Move to Australia in the short term. It’s wrong to move straight to NZ now, because jobs in Australia pay significantly more (on average), and you will be needing the extra wealth you accumulate. Our democratic system in Australia is (slightly) less compromised than either of your own. I guess.
- A year or two before civilization collapses, move from Australia to NZ. If air transport has already become unviable, you can take a ship over (which is why moving to Australia before this point is important).
Canada is a bait, as even if their agricultural land benefits from climate change, Fascist America will be moving up to take it anyway.

Move to Australia and meet the locals…
No way, I’d live on the same continent as that thing.

Yeah, when civilization collapses, i don’t want to be on the continent full of monsters.
That’s a wolf spider, it’s pretty harmless. It’s also not as big as it looks, but perspective tricks always work.
I’d make a joke about using the irrational fear of our native wildlife to dissuade everyone from moving here, but given our politicians recent disgraceful track record on immigration that would be insensitive.

I’ll be fleeing to New Caledonia because nobody thinks of New Caledonia.
It’s that or one of those subantartic volcano islands that look like purgatory incarnate.

You would say that! We all know you’re in thrall to your spider overlords though!

Dunno, think the guy with the prehistoric murder machine as a pet isn’t the best person to take advice from in regards to dangerous fauna.

How about Cydonia? You can live in the pyramids.
Looks like trans, feminism/womens rights and LGBTs and other minorities are next up as targets and Enemies Of The People for the government and their supporters on this forum.
It’s straight from the Trump/Bannon playbook.
Trans, LGBTs and feminists have consistently stood in solidarity with non-whites and immigrants and so we will stand with them against the Brexiters.
This is what foodie twitter looks like at the moment.
These are public figures who are wealth and culture creators and treated like homeless asylum seekers.
and if you arent a blue tick celebrity with lots of UK celeb blue ticks RTing you then your decades long involvement in the UK economy isnt worth jack shit and the Home Office will ignore you.
edit: my observations were noted elsewhere today

Sorry to keep banging on about this, but it’s kind of important, if unsurprising to the majority of people in this thread:
An EU source said 2 warnings from the Commission set “alarm bells” ringing: that Johnson was reducing the ambition of the Joint Report (no hard border, protecting North South cooperation + the all island economy) to a pledge to have trade that is “as frictionless as possible”
Secondly the UK is now resisting the ambition of having a “legally operable” solution for border in the event of a renegotiated Withdrawal Agreement, instead pushing for what was described as “aspirational” measures to avoid a hard border.
The warnings came during a 90-minute briefing of diplomats from EU27 member states by a senior figure from the European Commission Task Force
The overall message was that the UK has not brought forward any concrete proposals to replace the backstop.
“The one message that came back very forcefully from the meeting was that there are no concrete proposals,” says one source. “Nothing has been put on the table, not even a proper sketch or hint of a plan. We’re waiting. But for the moment there is zilch.”
The English colonialists havent stopped murdering for hundreds of years they aren’t going to stop now. The only “solution” they intend to bring to talks are the 21st century equivalent of smallpox blankets.
Been watching the debate all day and now I can’t get this ear worm out of my head.
This is a notable point on the subtleties of Brexiter propaganda
Can we please stop referring to the British Border in Ireland as the “Irish Border”.I think Dara O’Briain puts it best. Last night BBC kept repeating this over and over. Its this kind of psychological warfare that is contributing to the problem. The same with the phrases such as the “Irish Backstop” again it is just the backstop. Ive also heard the BBC use language like the Irish Problem. It would great if the British People took responsibilty for the decisons they are making and stop trying to deflect and go to old card of “Blame Paddy”
