So if the fascists or the Stalinists do get into power there will be a clear precedent for them to not only appoint a partisan speaker who ignores the standing orders, but financially sabotage opposition parties. Fantastic.

Like, if parliament wants to do something useful about Brexit early next week then fair enough. But I’m not holding my breath.

Fair enough on the mandate for a party. But it’s hard to claim a mandate without a majority.

Eugh. That’s awful. That needs to stop.

At least Thornberry apologised for comparing the Lib Dems to the Taliban.

Fake news. If you look at the quote she was speculating.

Which is a shame, because that truth is enough of a story.

For clarity, when you say the truth what do you mean? Her condemnation of his language and approach? Absolutely.

That, and she’s his sister saying what she’s saying. Literally the bare facts.

Sure, the problem isnt the rampant, unlawful far right Tory party and their corrupt, criminal prime minister, but opposition to their criminal regime calling for justice.

But don’t you see, PWK, by trying to silence their voice, Antifa are the REAL fascists!

Also, black people are the REAL racists.

These are things that people actually say.

Oh wow you’ve gone full stalinist.

Boris must go, I agree with that much.

But not, I hope, in this thread.

Yeah, was just about to point that one out. It’s like a list of talking points from /r/jordanpeterson

Sorry, what is like a list of talking points from /r/jordanpeterson?

Labour promised it as well. It’s water under the bridge now of course, and if we do get a 2nd referendum I’m now on the remain side (there was a point when I would have flipped to leave just out of distaste for a 2nd ref, but that is long gone). It just annoys me when people try and claim that trying to push ahead with brexit on the basis of the last two national polls is somehow unjustified.

You playing devils advocate for Johnson et al here.

Like the “Stalinist” line. Perhaps if Labour were shouting this at One Nation Tories or reluctant Leavers and Tory centrists, but opposing the Brexit faction and Johnsons bribery and corruption issues by calling for justice is somehow “Stalinist”, that’s just laughable and the same old shit I see day in day out arguing with alt right and “classical liberal” types.

I wasn’t aware I’d advocated for Johnson anywhere. At the next election I’ll vote LibDem. At a 2nd ref I’ll vote remain. On the basis of his conduct over the last two months I now despise Johnson (and I was never a fan). That doesn’t mean it’s ok for the left to indulge in conspiracy theories and Trumpist rhetoric. “Lock him up” isn’t calling for justice and you know it. You, personally, have spread lies in this thread tonight, and not apologised.

I’m more trying to say that the problem is that we now have two, different, competing claims as to what sort of policy is not just justified, but permissible. And our system has no way of dealing with that.

A devils advocate is someone who argues on behalf of the other side, even if they are not of that side itself.

Open any one of the tweets about Johnsons behaviour above, whats it full of? Alt right/hard right types posting closeups of angry Labour MP faces with whataboutery comments. “The problem isnt Johnson its everyone” “the real problem is the other side” and calling any opposition to far right/hard right/fascism = Stalinism. Go on /r/badunitedkingdom and ukpolitics same old shit. The same old tropes. The same old memes.

It’s almost as if ive come across the same old shit day in day out for 3 years.

Hah. Indeed.
