Brexit was the second reason on that chart. That’s why I asked the question: the chart says what you’re saying.

Here’s the same list for the Tories:
- Boris was unpopular (but not as unpopular as Corbyn)
- The Tories consolidated the Leave vote by abandoning Remain entirely
- Although with mercenary intent the Tories specifically targeted the Labour heartland voters
Promises of investment in NHS, schools, police etc.
- Their manifesto was lots of pictures and lean on content
- Their “message” Get Brexit Done was persuasive

Ah I misunderstood.
The chart seems to indicate that Brexit was a lesser reason why they lost voters but I think it might be almost as equally important as the unpopularity of Corbyn - along with the other points I listed. It depends on how the data for the chart was gathered. What was their methodology.
I might be entirely wrong. I’m just giving my opinion.

Though it’s pretty much what I pointed out would happen with the GE - instead of voting based on Brexit/not Brexit, the vote splintered on all sort of concerns that have little or nothing to do with it. It’ll be interesting to see if people agree that the issue is settled now (has anyone polled that?). I don’t think I would, if I were a party to this and I’m honestly sad that the result ended up with 52% of people voting on the pro-remain/2nd referendum parties, because that will get dredged up again and again when the realities of Brexit starts biting. So, I guess, I better stock up on popcorn for many more years to come.
Personally, I almost hope that Boris will keep his word and take the UK out with no deal, but I’m not quite that heartless. I’m not looking forward to the next few years of this continuing saga where we have to listen to Boris and Brexiters whining about how nasty the EU is being, though.
What does that map represent? Taking into account, of course, that acreage is not equal to votes. Blue are Conservative boroughs, red are Labour, and ?
And you’ve got it right.
Red Labour.
Orange Lib Dem.
Yellow SNP.
Green is Plaid Cymru.
Etc.
To me. It looks very much like setting the ground for an England versus Scotland face off.

Northern Ireland has its own parties, so that’s why that’s in a set of different colours.
The single blob of black in the northwest of England just north of Manchester represents the speaker’s constituency, where the people are essentially entirely disenfranchised for the next 10 years or so.
As ever you can largely pick out the big cities: red in a swathe of blue countryside.
Like America in reverse colors. Welcome to the shitstorm, UKans.
Labour won going away with people ages 18-44. Another thing like America: it’s the middle-aged old people who are destroying us.
and if anyone wonders why I keep using the words “ultranationalists” “supremacists” and “ethnostate” there’s the answer.

Katie Hopkins is a total loon. She’d do better in a room with padded walls.
and she’s utterly representative of Johnsons English Nationalist Party
That “disabled people should be paid less” anti-Semite upthread?
Shes now a Tory MP
Your people, your side, they are utter fucking scum Draxen, utter fucking scum.
She’s correct, though - the Conservative party has been captured by National Populism, and any MPs who thinks that they’re somehow going to re-orient themselves back toward the center after this, are as deluded as GOP stalwarts who woke up after Trump won.
Nationalism has been on the rise for many years now. It won’t disappear anytime soon.
Looks like the hating immigrants more than loving the NHS will come with a price attached.
The Face Eating Leopards are gorging well tonight.
US poll maven Harry Enten (or Whiz Kid Harry Enten if you like) has been beating a drum that gets to the real heart of things to my thinking: Labour ran behind a leader with a -40 favorability rating. Did other things play a role? Almost certainly. But sometimes the math that underlies a defeat is fairly easy to sort, too.
The public hate him.
They didnt like his support for Middle East terrorism
They were convinced he is a communist.
They remembered his support for the IRA. For anyone over 40 this was a massive issue. If you supported the IRA in the 70s and 80s people remembered and they didnt forgive and forget.
Its what Labour was told on the doorstep and it was reflected in the booths.

@playingwithknives I’m curious as to what your thoughts are on…
Who do you think will be the next Labour leader?
Who would you choose as the next Labour leader?
No leader i chose could survive with the governance and executive captured by the hard left. Jess Phillips mebbe. Or Kendall.
Burgon is a fucking idiot in his day job, even if outside of work I quite like the idea of Doom Metal guitarist as Prime Minister.
McDonnell is gone too. I would have thought he would be a choice. The decision will be down to McCluskey, Lansman and all the old Trots on the NEC i have no idea what they have planned next.
Rayner might be a good choice by the hard left. Lewis too, ex-soldier and that. There’s a whole bunch of factions that dont act rationally or logically and might just put foward some random Respect Marxist Islamist loon out of ideological reasons.
