You keep saying that, despite nominally agreeing many posts ago that Remain/Leave is going to scar UK politics for a decade at least (and IMO probably more).
I get that you feel that now you’ve had an election, everything is settled, and people should just go about their business, and I can sympathize with the sentiment - it would be nice. I just don’t think people work that way, and I don’t think your politicians (especially not the Tories, who have reaped enormously politically from your national divide) have an incentive to let it work that way either.

I can only speak anecdotally but my Remain supporting friends and family seem to no longer consider Remain/Leave to be relevant to this election. Although Starmers Remain credentials may cause Remain supporting voters to view him more favorably.
Starmer seems to be the moderate candidate and Long-Bailey the left-wing Corbyn continuation. Since the left-wing still seem to be calling the shots and appear to view Starmer with distrust it makes sense to me that Long-Bailey is a likely winner.
EDIT:
This would probably be the case for any (reasonable) candidate. The further left candidate will more likely win over the moderate one due to the left-wing arm of the party having more voting power than the moderates.
We’ll see, but the poll very clearly projects Starmer to win with 61% vs 39% in an eventual run-off election, so a polling error seems unlikely. Of course, he hasn’t announced his candidacy yet, if I understand correctly, so there’s time for things to change.

Not bold - merely logical. There are naturally going to be many people who will feel that Boris is taking the UK out of the EU in opposition to the wishes of the people, so of course there are politicians who will want to try and capitalize on that potential support.
Will be interesting to see whether this eventually coalesces into a real party. One would expect not (the LibDems would seem best set to focus this political energy once Swindon is out), but who knows. The times seem to be ripe for new single-issue parties in Europe, it seems.
I’m all for re-joining the EU asap, but really all the old racists need to fuck off and die first.

They are a coalition, a spectrum of center-left moderates -> full blown socialists. The problem is that the socialists have taken over all the key leadership positions and steadily bolstered their numbers in the last few years. They effectively control the party. Rebecca Long-Bailey is widely seen as their faction’s chosen successor.
How can anyone be surprised to discover that there might be some socialists in the UK Labour Party?
