Anecdotal evidence, apparently the new VAT regime is causing issues for sellers trying to ship to the UK. Tried ordering a balisong trainer from the US for my son, but both sellers that had what I wanted will not ship to the UK at this time due to ‘onerous VAT red tape’.

In other UK news, Scottish parliament says that Sturgeon’s statements in the Salmond inquiry are indeed fishy

This is the most punworthy event in the british press since the “British Left Waffles on Falkland Islands”.

I bought an Oura (https://ouraring.com/) - which does sleep analysis. I’m on a health kick atm.

So far it’s told me that I’m sleeping well but it is very interesting on what it shows. It monitors heartbeat and body temperature and shows it over the night. It charts splits between light, heavy and REM sleep and tells you how quickly you fall asleep.

TBH It’s told me pretty much what I knew instinctively but it looks for long term patterns and then makes recommendations.

For any fellow politics nerds UK in a Changing Europe has added some more interviews:

Lol fucking idiots

Most Brexit voters I have sympathy for when they are caught. In this case, they were already benefiting from free movement and wanted to stop others from taking advantage of the same. I, therefore, have no sympathy with them at all.

Of course, as they were so keen on Brexit surely they will be whistling a cheery rendition of ‘God Save the Queen’ as they deported by to Blighty. They must be really looking forward to being part of the huge success of Brexitland.

It’s also 500 people of about an estimated 350k British expats in Spain. Not only did they vote for Brexit, they also fucked up their residency paperwork.

They believed what they were told, maybe because of being too trusting, maybe because they thought the natives would know not to mess with their “betters”, who knows, in any case I think we’re talking of people old enough not to need this kind of mess in their lives, so, it’s sad, but what can you do?

Laugh. A lot.

This, very much this.

As soon as the referendum result cane in, I went to Spain precisely in order to secure my residency and rights there.

I have my Spanish ID card etc.

I knew transitioning out of the EU would have various issues, and residency would be one of them, so I took some common sense precautions.

Why these people didn’t is beyond me, it’s been known for a while that us Brits needed additional papers in order to maintain the status quo.

Same happened to some ex-pats living in France. Missed the boat on getting it done and now can’t stay…

Three words: low information voters.

No. If they voted for Brexit they thought they were one of the “special ones” and would have special exemptions.

FTFY :)

I do think the interesting question is who they thought they were sticking it to? If they’re living in the Dordogne or Marbella just who?

I can see a case for many people that went through austerity wanting to give the pig fucker a bloody nose but they are out of it. I presume it’s they are that time that get the Daily Mail and PG tips sent over and if so I have even less sympathy.

Please don’t post fake news. I was going to say “That looks like Spain breaching their WA obligations” but in fact the whole story is bollocks, as one might expect from the Express. This gives a better summary of the situation.

  1. Spain isn’t deporting anyone.
  2. The deadline is the end of June.
  3. Yes, people do need to get their paperwork sorted. Obvious downsides of brexit are obvious, although maybe not to many of the people who voted for it :)

The bloody Europeans ofcourse.!

Jokes aside, I get the impression there is a certain type of expat who considers their residence in Spain or wherever to effectively be a part of England, only sunnier.

I’m across the pond and don’t pretend to know all the context, but this doesn’t sound good. :(

Loyalist DUP believed Boris on his Brexit promise that there would be no hard border between UK and N. Ireland. Boris sold them down the river in order to get his Brexit done (following a centuries old tradition of Westminster government foreign policy of “f**k the Irish”) Loyalists now apoplectic that there is more of a border between the UK mainland and N. Ireland than there is between N. Ireland and the rest of Ireland.

There was never, ever any way that Boris could enable Brexit to be done and both uphold the Good Friday agreement while not having some kind of border controls with N. Ireland, somehow the Irish loyalists chose to believe he could.

The DUP have been naive and stupid, but lets not forget that they took their (1 billion quid) pound of silver from Theresa May in return for their support propping her government up when it was on it’s knees.
