And apparently only the foreigners that didn’t want to work for him for low wages. It’s a very specific sort of loss of movement he was voting for, apparently.

So it’s…not looking good, you guys?

“Wages for low earners will rise” was literally a Leave campaign claim. It was the remainers who claimed it was false.

Except business owners will do everything they can to not pay more, including hurt their own business.

It’s “Not great, not terrible”. Might be because the full consequences haven’t manifested, but I think it’s just because it’s moderately bad.

Like, if the main discussion here right now is about a link to racist fake news site there probably isn’t a lot really going on.

Hahaha yeah James Ball is one of the good ones, despite writing for the fucking New European.

Some of us here were telling you this months ago…

At least Draxen got a smarmy mug out of it, so it’s not all bad. ;)

You left the end out:

…and now its hurting my business.

It’s really not easy to admit to yourself that you’ve fucked yourself both as a person and as a businessman.

Ah! Somebody picked on it. I was wondering if somebody would watch the video. It’s really something.

I think what’s going on is that his self respect is built around his businessman identity, so he brings out the “as a person” stuff to try to square the circle. But then he can’t avoid making it clear it’s really about business and that maybe losing a huge influx of workforce, providers and potential clients simultaneously might not the the wisest choice.

I’ll watch a brexiter sobbing about how they got screwed by Brexit any opportunity I get.

Same here, I love these nature documentaries of leopards and their dietary habits.

Hahaha , love this and laughed out loud.

After the hell nurses went through with COVID, the government offered them a whopping 1% pay raise.
Remember when Brexit was going throw tons of money into the NHS? Right-wing governments do nothing but lie.

yup!

I’m sure I’ve told you about the English expat I met in Spain who hadn’t sorted his affairs, and now can stay only 90 days a year in the property he bought!

This on top of squandering some 20 (?) billion pounds on a track and trace system that didn’t and never will work properly.

  • Most of that money was spent on the PCR testing program, which does in fact work properly
  • Most of the rest was spent on LFD tests, which despite the criticism (much of which can be traced to a single academic with links to the Morning Star) seem to actually have ok sensitivity and pretty decent specificity.
  • Some of the rest was spent on the app, which does, in fact, appear to be working (pingdemic)
  • The phone based manual test and trace stuff has probably had pretty marginal impact and indeed “didnt and never will work properly”, but didnt have £20bn spent on it.

You may want to sit down for a moment.

“In May last year NHS Test and Trace (NHST&T) was set up with a budget of £22 billion. Since then it has been allocated £15 billion more: totalling £37 billion over two years.”

In any case, @Aceris, the track and trace commentary of mine was a tangent to @jpinard discussing the NHS pay rise.

I’m kind of torn on that one though, because I know a bunch of soldiers who got mobilised to help out, in “Operation Rescript” who haven’t actually been paid for the days they did do.

However, if anyone deserves a pay rise, surely it’s the NHS nurses?

Nothing to do with Brexit, but this does seem emblematic of the UK right now:
