Bros - the anti-Brokeback Mountain gay rom-com

Wife and I just got back from seeing the movie. It’s a lot of Eichner, but the script does a decent job working his shtick into its plot. There were some genuinely warm, emotional moments and the movie goes out of its way to put a lense not only on gay culture but also gay film. And saying that it goes out of its way might not be that accurate, since the more I think about it that approach might really be at the heart of the movie, with the rom-com-ing being its side hustle.

This looks really funny. Looking forward to it!

Looking forward to seeing it, and definitely bummed by the poor box office :/

I’m very much looking forward to this, but we’re also back to avoiding theaters for now. I get the sense that a lot of the target market may be feeling the same way lately. Hopefully the streaming numbers will be solid.

Billy Eichner stands out as one of the first positive (Parks & Rec) and negative (Difficult People) representations of true queer humor in mainstream media, as in jokes coming from a place of queerness rather than being about it. He’s really the perfect choice for this role.
