Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 doesn't get Roman numerals

I haven’t played CoD since MW3 or Blops since the 2nd, but they seem to have really upped the gore, especially in the prerendered video. They’ve done away with a single player campaign and instead there are just some tutorials for each of the different specialists. They give you a background video, a quick video on the abilities, and then a tutorial mission using them, and finally they take you through one of the different map modes playing with/against bots. So it tries to prepare people for the mp while giving them a story.

The Black Ops games have been gruesome for quite awhile IMO. That’s my least favorite part of CoD.

My understanding is there is a way to make the graphics look cel shaded in the Zombies mode? It’s Borderlands-like? That sounds like fun to me. :)

I’ve only played the BR mode so far and haven’t seen anything gruesome. I guess the Zombie mode would have some stuff, but I so haven’t even thought about it.

Probably the only thing really in-game that that I’ve noticed so far is the limbs and body parts that get left over by the cluster grenade stuff. I imagine zombie mode will be crazy. The first video though with the little girl’s mom made me go wow.

Looked forever yesterday and takes me two seconds today to find. You can change the sprint to hold. Yay…

yay BR without building and jank… I’m on it

I have to admit, I’m secretly hoping that this game bombs so that they go back to doing single player campaigns. If this game is a huge hit despite no campaign, then that will probably signal a new methodology at Activision.

I imagine sales due to blackout will make up for any sales lost due to a lack of campaign.

Yeah, I’m afraid that is true as well. We’ll find out next year when the comparison numbers come in vs previous Call of Duty games.

Did the previous zombie bits have more than 1 map, or have they strengthened that part of the game this time? I tried the cel shaded setting, and that was kind of interesting,.but I will probably play with the normal setting.

The streamers I watch basically break it down to why spend $60 for an 8 hour campaign, when you can spend $60 for 100+ hours of battle royale?

Welcome to the future!

The Infinite Warfare campaign was excellent and all anyone did was bitch that it wasn’t Titanfall 2 which was similarly excellent. They were both great!

I don’t blame them for dumping a legit campaign in this one.

I played a bunch last night and coming from tons of hours of Fortnite, Blackout is weird for me. It seems cool, but I have to learn it. The Team Deathmatch is fantastic though. TTL is longer than in BLOPS III and IW, which makes a world of difference in how much fun the engagements are. Everything also has a tightness and heft to it that takes it up a notch from III. I’m impressed. It’s great.

You did a good job spreading the word. That’s why I bought Infinite Warfare and put it in my backlog. I’ll play that campaign one of these days, during a month where I don’t have GamePass, EA Access, Netflix, Hulu, Sling, HBO, CBS All Access, the new Disney Streaming service, PS+, or any other monthly subscription going.

Just mucking around in offline play with bots while I get used to everything…never played BLOPS before (just MW) but looks fantastic and seems like great fun.

Keen to try out BR & online multi when I know what I’m doing.

I managed a second place in Blackout last night but had some bad luck while playing it tonight. I really like it though. It’s “realistic” without taking the videogame fun out of it. Definitely the best Battle Royale next to Fortnite for me and both can easily coexist.

Team Deathmatch is still a damn blast and again, the fact you can survive just that extra couple seconds is huge for making it more entertaining. I played a bunch of Control tonight and when people play the objectives, that is super intense.

I play a lot of Firebreak because I just love irradiating people and when the Purifier is charged up there’s nothing like fire to cause chaos in crowded areas. Good times!

I’ve only played a bit as I have severe gaming ADD as of late. It’s really fun, but I only like it in short bursts. I think this is due to the manic pace of the game compared to PUBG. I can play PUBG for hours on end and not feel wiped out. Not exactly a fault of the game in any way, but just my casual observation as of now. It would help if I had people to group with. Right now I started trying random squads. Most of the rounds went just about the way you would expect. ;)

When I’ve played it seems like it gets down to under 40 people really quick as a bunch of people jump into the same place and get slaughtered. The best I’ve done is 14th I think, and 1 kill and damaging someone else. Definitely gets the adrenaline going though. The Zombie maps look like they should be fun, and the mp modes as well.

I won a solo match on I think my 9th or 10th round? I have an epic amount of BR time so that’s not too shocking. My aim really isn’t very good in this game yet, but I know how to try and not die in the first 10 minutes.

Yeah, you don’t want to be in that initial death wave. I’m playing solo so far so it’s just a matter of finding a relatively safe landing spot and then skulking around for a bit after gearing up.

The thing about battle royale is a lot of people want to play at a breakneck pace and that’s a sure way to end up dead. You can’t possibly get the drop on everyone and I will make sure to cap your ass while you loot duffle bags if you try to. I watched Ninja yesterday and as good as he is, he’s always moving and it cost him often. He was not winning regularly.

Staying unseen may not be the sexy way to win, but it’s pretty damn effective.

In PUBG if you pull the logs of the games they play you will see that they die quickly 90% of the time. What gets tossed on the internet are the few rounds where it went well. It was pretty eye opening when I saw that as I felt like an idiot hot dropping and getting wacked 90% of the time.

Of course they still are like 100 times better than me, but yes hot dropping is not a solid way to win games.
