Caltrain users: which 3G/4G service is best on the train?

I have to commute for the next few months, so I’m looking for the best way to get a reliable connection on the train. I picked up a Sprint 3G/4G USB modem and so far it’s “meh”; 4G is useless unless standing still, and the 3G coverage is just ok, dropping out routinely on the way down or up the tracks.

How’s Verizon on the SF -> valley route? Any other suggestions? Favorite devices (mifi, USB dongle, phone)?
