Cambridge Analytica/SCL

IIRC, the few times Facebook (or was it Google?) alerted me to sites or apps wanting personal profile info, they kept the alert down to a few bullet points. Not sure how you can reduce it further. In fact, the alerts could be more verbose.

It would be better if businesses/sites weren’t allowed to deal in personal info, IMO, regardless of the EULA or TOS or whatever.

Interesting read.

I feel the bar for “explosive” stories in 2018 is a bit higher than “Leave may have had some Breitbart engagement data”. I mean, it’s not two days since the president’s lawyer, who paid hush money to multiple porn stars on behalf of GOP politicians including the president and was raided by the police for reasons which may involve money laundering and/or campaign finance fraud, revealed his other client was the most prominent remaining Fox News host.

What more is coming? Loose ends are being burned at a high rate.

In six months they will just start a new company that does the same thing.

The power players behind Cambridge Analytica have set up a new company — and the daughters of Donald Trump-supporting billionaire Robert Mercer have just joined as directors.

Alexander Nix, the suspended CEO of Cambridge Analytica, is also a director, as well as other executives from parent firm SCL Group.

Election fraud Incorporated

Hearts and Minds, Inc.

Only a symbolic victory, and the moneybags behind it will likely never see the inside of jail cells like they deserve. But hey, I’ll still take it.

Or several other groups will.

Their abbreviated name is “CamAnal.” That is all.

CA was pretty much just a shell company anyway. The scary part is that they probably learned a lot, both about how to use data to move elections and about how to not get caught.

No could have seen this coming. Except for all the people that saw it coming.
