Off topic (or maybe not - its about running), this article contains a link to an article that presents a theory that homo sapiens edge was the ability to run for long distances.
I guess these people lost that edge, but then so did most of us.

Who needs that these days? Our edge now is the ability to sit for extended periods of time, and then periodically get up to get the pizza that’s being delivered.

It’s always weird to see things I saw casually mentioned in college passed off as news. I had a professor who was trying to figure the start date of human hunting by looking at the point of attachment for the buttocks on skeletons. Stick something with a spear, then jog behind it until it dies.
