What I personally liked about my Super Saddam character is that his backstory is interwoven with real events such that if we did live in a comic book styled alternate universe, it’d actually fit. It’s not that I think a Saddam superhero by itself is clever or interesting, but rather how the details of his death and the invasion can be inserted into a contemporary historical comic book fiction.

It’s not like I think I’m next Ellis or Bendis or anything.

I don’t, I kept all of my characters, I haven’t delete one yet since I start the game, even my Power Armor Angel character who was nerfed extremely badly at release.

You take one or two powerful skills than you take the rest as you see fit, it’s not that hard to make a powerful character, the only skill I took that’s consider FOTM is taser arrow, and I didn’t take any FOTM skills on my PA character.

I didn’t bother with mini mine or shot gun.

It’s not like I think I’m next Ellis or Bendis or anything. Why are you picking on me? :(

Sorry if I offended you, but I wasn’t trying to. I was trying to say that character I consider original are entirely new, not character based on real or fictional characters.

Hey, they’re your words man. Your flavor of the month gets nerfed, you move on to something else.

I doesn’t bother me or anything, as everyone’s got different tastes, I just find it amusing that you think creating power-gamed heroes makes them more interesting characters.

Anyway, this has become a tangent. The problem I think people had was your continued attitude in general to people who design concept characters and stick to them, rather than taking powers as matters of convenience first and foremost.

Which powers you take changes what aspects of those powers help offset their advantages (like the animation time for sonic arrow).

err where did I said I’m not a power gamer?

I’m totally a min/max power gamer, but what I don’t agree with you is that if you are a power gamer you should automatically disregard character design or background story.

I would even go afar as saying that a power gamer have a lot more invested in their character than someone just casually making characters.

if they make my character unplayable, of course I’m going to start a new character, but usually I don’t build my characters to be an one trick pony, that’s why I stick with characters I built because even after nerfs, they are still viable.

Fair enough. I suppose I’m giving you more of a hard time than you really deserve. ;-)

After all, I’m currently desperately seeking some sort of even-halfway-fitting root/hold to make my Rocket Jumping Pyre + Laser Sword Soviet Hero not get completely trashed in PvP.

Tazer arrow and Ice powers are right out. Ego and Telekinesis don’t fit either. Some sort of “flame retardant” Entangling Mesh maybe? Flash Fire upgraded to slow foes might work ok, but that’s a long ways away…

try upper cut from the might, it KO the target if target is activating a skill.

“Deceased silver age style hero” wasn’t on there, so I’m good!

What are the hallmarks of a silver age heroes?

Entirely ludicrous costumes, bright colors, lots of spandex, awesome Kirby-style space themes. Man, I would love to see somebody with a Kirby-style ‘new god’ homage costume.

What age of comics were the Watchmen characters nods to?

On a more serious note, is anyone entering that contest on their frontpage? I’m downloading the character creator thing and will check it out later.

I have a few costume designs of mine i’ve really liked assuming it the same as the ingame one. I’ll have to make couple more to meet the five maximum probably.

Which Watchmen characters? There were nods to the golden, silver, and modern age in the book.

Nevermind, I’ll look them up myself. :) Didn’t mean to put you on the spot.

I’m putting 2-3 of my characters in, but the reward sucks.

Yeah the rewards aren’t too grand, but just seeing my character in game would be a nice little (impossible) ego boost ha.

are you supposed to install that client over your main install or separately?

Nice the installer seems to have screwed up my CO install. Great contest.

The installer should be pointed directly in to your main installer.

They’re all based on characters from the old Charlton Comics line, specifically their comics from the late 60s through the 70s (Silver Age). Although Nite Owl was an analog for the Blue Beetle, who originated in 1939 (Golden Age).

Personally, I have a soft spot for the Golden Age stuff.

You’d need specialized blocky dongle hats for that.

Is there any way to see what heroes i’ve submitted to the contest?

I submitted 4 designs (my tk hero, my munitions hero, my demon and my power armor hero) so just need one more i like. Maybe the design i’d love to have as my nemesis if it is possible to design their costume (hopefully):

Not very hero looking though.
