Which beautiful gatling gun? I’ve been looking for a gatling power replacer for ages, nobody seems to have seen them.

My main is darkness with End/Int and it really felt like easy mode compared to my other guys. I hit 40 in no time with that guy. With Accelerated Metabolism on Shadow Grasp and high Int you can actually almost net energy when using it. One shot from my energy builder gives me a full maintain of Shadow Grasp or Lifedrain.

Sorry to get your hopes up, i meant the gatling pistol.

I’m not 100% sure, but i heard some stuff about the quelar gatling replacer just being from headstart. i was looking for one too.

I know one exists, but I’ve never seen anyone discuss it on the forums, never seen a picture of it, and I only know it exists because some idiot was trying to sell one for 10,000 gold on the auction house. Unfortunately, the head-start event was so critically bugged that trying to farm it for one of the incredibly rare item drops was a total nonstarter. Specifically, the devs thought it would be wise to ring every invasion spawn point with ‘tough’ type NPC allies, and ‘tough’ allied AA guns. Furthermore, the enemies spawned in mid-air, and then dropped to the ground. So, not only did the AA guns frequently destroy the Qularr ships, they also shot at the invading NPC’s as they spawned. Making this worse, the swarmlords would get shot up in midair, land, charge the largest concentration of enemy NPC’s, and then die within five seconds - causing every other Qularr in the swarm to die.

I timed one of the Millennium City invasions once. It lasted seventeen seconds. I was the only PC there.

But then how will people get irritated as The Amazing TVC 15 gets knockbacked right into the crowd trying to train powers!?

(Thanks! Concern assuaged.)

By the way, for those who haven’t heard, we’ve got a QT3 supergroup running now. If you haven’t gotten an invite yet, end a message to me in-game, or almost any of the people in the name thread, and we can get you in. I’ve given just about everyone invite permission, to accelerate the process.

There are several replacements for each weapon in Munitions (even grenades)

The two I know of so far for the Gatling Gun are the Browning .50 cal and the flamethrower

flame thrower doesn’t have a costume unlock as far as i know though.

I could have sworn there was an option in one of the menus to auto-decline duels.

Things like the no-tints on powers and not being able to send resources in the mail strike me as sloppy design. They always use the excuse ‘there’s no way to do it currently, we need to develop new technology’ but this is the kind of shit that should already be programmed in the engine from the get-go.

Seriously, who designed the mail system and never once thought ‘maybe the players will want/need to send money as well?’

It really feels (even with the delay from July to September) that the game got pushed out early. I suspect what we see in six months will probably be more what Cryptic might have liked to have shipped with if they’d had the time they wanted/needed.

If there is an option to auto-decline duels, I’ve missed it. Admittedly, it’s not been a problem for me since I’ve only had a few duel invites, anyway.

Probably the guy that got the memo saying “we want to discourage gold farmers.”

But yeah, they can’t have it both ways, if they have rare items and money is a gating factor for respecs or want an economy in the game at all, they have to support money transfers between players and accounts.

This only stops the players who don’t think about it though, to the rest it just makes transferring money a pain in the ass.

Maybe i’ve just played wow too long where people would transfer money between factions doing this but…
-list something on the auction house with the person you want to give money for how much money you want to transfer. make sure it is something that doesn’t have a lot of copies up and make sure your price is unique looking so you can tell it apart.
-buy it on your character who has the money
-hope the money doesn’t bug out in the mail.

CO is also probably the biggest farmer encouraging game ever because of the extremely low money drops and impossible respec fees that would be more realistically listed in US dollars instead of in game currency. Getting money through normal means is also too hard as the auction house barely works when it works at all and crafting isn’t a trade skill so much as something to make a small amount of items for yourself.

p.s. it is probably a good thing you can’t send money though because it piss a lot of people off when their money transfer went poof in the mail.

Your Superhero resume should include this statement without the paragraph that puts it in context.

Woot cryptic has finally admitted that the respec system is completely and totally broken, going back on their previous idiotic statements on the matter (ie should only be able to respec 2 abilities per level for all money & you can do a full respec for a million global).

It does concern me that they seem to wait until massed community outrage before making any major fixes to the game though.

Because I can’t stop making characters and trying out powersets, I rolled a pure Archery angel, Karael:

Strafe, Taser Arrow, that spread-arrow attack, Quarry, and Fire Flight so far. There wasn’t really a blindfold costume part, so I just used an opaque white mask piece.

Waiting until a negative reaction escalates to “massed community outrage” before responding will actually train the community to become more hostile and vocal. I’m not suggesting that they should ignore that outrage, just observing the predictable consequence of rewarding outrage exclusively.

Right, but it’s not like this was an issue that only some people cared about. I’d be pretty surprised if a significant number of players thought the current respec system was anything but horrible.

Sometimes it is for the betterment of the game though as is the case with adding in a viable respec system, adding in more content to attempt to bridge the content gap and making the leveling curve a little less harsh after the beta change, all of which only came to pass after “massed community outrage”. Cryptic even gave a “its fine, learn to play” response to the respec system in the past, but were forced to change their tune.

My “amusement of the moment” is that it is literally impossible to full respec on a mid level character without outside help at the moment because respec cost scales faster than money gain.

Wildly generalizing, Cryptic just doesn’t seem very good at that whole observing predictable consequences thing. The wait-till-uproar on obviously dumb things, then making a show of listening-to-feedback-see-how-responsive-we-are? pattern reminds me a lot of earlyish City of Veroes too.

It’s definitely a counterproductive way to go about things. I guess it is better than never fixing dumb design regardless, but doing it right (or at least, less wrong) in the first place would seem the better approach. But I never went to developer school.

Er… that’s not a power replacer, it’s just a second costuming option. There’s four different minigun costume options. Default gatling gun, smaller minigun, browning .50 cal, and what looks like some kind of a .30cal airplane cannon.
