They could even continue to do dumb things if they acknowledged and corrected those mistakes before their customers are whipped into a frenzy. If they communicated well (pause for laughter), and listened to polite and detailed constructive criticism, responding by either making suggested changes or explaining clearly why not, that would train the community to interact with them in a much more useful way. Also, they would earn the community’s trust, which would reduce the number of customers lost with each mistake.

That is almost as awesome as the “good news, passive defenses are being nerfed!” announcement. Even if the respec system wasn’t Kafkaesque, how can anyone “learn to play” when they keep changing the rules?

Sorry, i don’t mean they said exactly that, but they stated it was fine how it was on a few occasions and if you wanted to respec you would have to work hard for it (no matter that the more you worked to farm money the more expensive it became as well).

Also, their data mining excuse was pretty bullshit too unless they were data mining how much the community was pissed off about it.

Ok, now I get it. At first I thought they’d bascially said “RTFM NOOB! LOLZ” :)

I will embraces my heritage.

“Who want to buy my Gold? $15 for 50global!!!”

I am, against all odds, really really enjoying this. I’ve dicked about with creating alts, messing around with the character creator for some hours, and I’ve settled on a Quake Marine (Quake 1, natch). Munitions are fun!

I don’t know if the game has real depth, but there’s joy to be had in spraying shotgun blasts everywhere and then rocket jumping around the place with great violence.

that’s a good price ;)

got an ingame email asking me to buy gold for $20 for 10

Munitions are one of the powersets they really got right, in terms of look and feel. I love it. BTW, JM, don’t forget to toss a message to @quatoria or @murbella or any other quartermaster to join us.

My only remaining issue with munitions is guns clipping through me or each other during animations. My guy is not weirdly shaped, and that ice rifle… I dont think anyone can design a body that can hold it without the stock going through their arm.

Is it worth sticking with one ranged attack, one AOE attack, or is there enough difference between them all that it’s a good idea to pick up several?

For example I love the look of the minigun, but I already have 2-gun-mojo.

Minigun is a cylinder attack and well worth getting for some ranged aoe damage. 2 gun mojo is a nice single target attack that does very good damage/energy (you can use it for free basically with good enough dex/ego and killer instinct), but if there is more than one target, you want to use minigun instead in my opinion.

I suppose there could be an argument that bullet ballet could replace minigun, but minigun has very long range (100 yards if i remember right) which lowers your damage intake, it can fear targets with advantage further reducing your damage (i believe fear in this game is just a -damage debuff) and it can give you enrage (with advantage). I took both personally and generally use minigun as my main attack, often even against single targets. i use bullet ballet still when enemies are all around me and not lined up decently (they often are lined up though).

I wouldn’t get assault rifle if you pick 2 gun mojo though as they are basically the same thing.

Well, the minigun is definitely “in-character”, so I’m going for that. Thanks!

Are you confusing bullet ballet with lead tempest? Bullet Ballet is the melee-range combo that hits one target, unless you add an advantage. Lead Tempest is the random-chance PBAOE (which also looks awesome.)

no, the descriptions and effects are bugged, they’re supposed to be switched but it was mistakenly left in like that.

Yes, quatoria is right, i did mean lead tempest. Both abilities also do look awesome, like they were taken directly from Equilibrium (good thing).

I might get bullet ballet too on my gunner. they buffed it so it is 30% chance to aoe even not enraged. I just don’t like the reliance on very short range pbaoe as opposed to the decent range on lead tempest. My gunner has a free respec though and we get another one when they fix the broken economy… In fact, i am going to try to build a character around it.

p.s. equilibrium is the best movie ever.

Bullet Ballet is one of the highest damage single-target moves in munitions, so if that’s what you’re after, it’s not a bad choice. It’s very, very END hungry, however, so be aware of that.

hmmm but would you still get two gun mojo to enrage yourself? minigun takes too long. I have a feeling i am going to make my munitions characters useless doing this ha

Lock and load advantaged & bullet ballet seem pretty crazy since you can spam bullet ballet constantly (i actually gain energy with killer instinct) with it up and then it lowers the cooldown too. i wish i could actually test it against enemies instead of just things that don’t fight back though. Force block might help a lot too.

They made lightning reflexes look crappy. gone is the little aura thing, now replaced with an infrequent pulse. I also can’t seem to change the color from the standard yellow even when i change it in the powers list and drag the ability back in to the builds menu.

Probably going to go something like this. still not sure on tk shield vs force shield. also might get ego sprites (or chii resurgence) instead of sniper rifle at 23 depending on survivability.

Well, here’s my munitions tribute to The Shadow and The Green Hornet: The Mongoose!

And here’s my attempt at The Nameless One from Planescape: Torment. Unfortunately you can’t have zombie skin AND tattoos, so I went with zombie skin. Here’s Adahn:

The setup required by the 80 or so energy cost makes it hard to use. On the other hand, I’m looking at taking it just for crippling challenge, so that I can max out the damage on Two Gun Mojo, rather than take Crippling Challenge there (where I have it now).

Did they nerf lightning reflexes since i last used it? i seem to remember my dodge being A LOT higher and now it is only 54%… It has been a while since i played my LR char though so i could be remembering wrong, but i really don’t think so.

Bad Guy: And you, Preston, the supposed savior of the resistance, are now its destroyer, and, along with them, you’ve given me yourself… calmly… coolly… entirely without incident.
John Preston: [Polygraph machine scribbling rapidly] No.
[Polygraph suddenly registers Preston completely in control]
Polygraph Technician: Oh… Shit.
John Preston: Not without incident. (minor spoilers to equilibrium)

I switched from being minigun with a side helping of lead tempest focused to focusing completely on bullet ballet and lead tempest. It seems rather effective. Force block gives me basically unlimited energy to spam either bullet ballet or lead tempest depending on the situation and i’m pretty survivable with Lightning Reflexes and force block linger. If i ever fight a tough boss, i start off with two gun mojo to get enraged and then just go to town on him with lock and load. The not without incident proc is similar to death arc for gigabolt in that it adds even more damage to than the base ability when it procs, but while enraged it procs off of every hit, doing massive damage. I don’t recommend this for everyone though as i’m pretty sure the traditional ranged route is overall still superior, but it seems quite viable.

It is a completely different playstyle for the most part (although i suspect this to change a little when i get sniper rifle to pick off some enemies before jumping in their midst), but i am enjoying it.

To appreciate just how cool bullet ballet looks, you really have to see it in motion, but i liked this shot too. Me doing some (i think) new random quest they added that the crime computer literally spams you with mail for.

Blue glow is my force block linger, never leave home without it, especially when fighting multiple villains. It is a pretty dark picture now that i look at it so kind of hard to see, but it is sewer so what do you expect…

oh and i gave up on holdout pistol. 5% energy is like 7 energy and my energy normally goes in chunks from using bullet ballet or lead tempest. Killer instinct also works against this as i gain energy every 4 seconds or so from it. Probably still get it eventually, but things like sniper rifle, chii resurgence and ego sprites are much more important.

In the vein of such lesser relations as Frank Stallone, Kevin Dillon, and Eric Roberts, comes the second-cousin of Captain Hammer, Sergeant Sledge:
