Ugh, I think I confused this movie with another when I rented it on iTunes. What a completely lousy Rushmore wannabe. It shamelessly cribs from Rushmore from the very beginning, and it just gets worse from there. Yet it has neither the charm nor the wit nor the originality of Rushmore.
The lead actor (who is playing Chekov in next year’s Star Trek) is completely unlikeable.
It is as clumsy as a Jay Roach movie, and, go figure, Jay Roach is the producer.
Not even Hope Davis and Robert Downey Jr can save this one. In fact, Hope Davis is sorta unlikeable, and Downey Jr comes off as a sissy.
Save your $$$ on this one.
