Chris Crawford's Eastern Front

I was rummaging through my old atari 400 & 2600 stuff and found something I’d completely forgotten about: a tape of to Crawford’s Eastern Front. The manual, too:

No idea why I wrote those numbers on there; I was 9.

Can I get more than $5 for this from some obsessive grognard?

Put it on eBay.

One of those maps in excellent condition sold recently at a Christie’s auction in San Francisco for $17,000. Unfortunately, since you’ve defaced yours, it’s worthless. Pity.

You shouldn’t troll like that. :D

A complete copy of his “The Art of Computer Game Design” is online here. It’s an interesting read, especially for the “conflict is a fundamental component of all games” argument.

QT3 posters who mention Atari 2600s are now required to list all of the games they currently own and any they are willing to part with. I am currently forging TomChick’s and Mark Asher’s signatures on the document confirming this. It would be wise of you, Jason, to post your list quickly.

:D :D :D :D :D

Yes, that way they can sit in the cloest collecting dust, right next to your 2600. A fine plan indeed… hehe

I had an 80’s party (see my geek rating) and dug up my old 2600. It was one of the highlights of the evening, everyone took their turn at playing. Some of the games played included Combat, Adventure, Bezerk, Enduro and Asteroids.

Precisely three feet from me is your own dusty collection, jackass.

The relative novelty of the tape (typically, it’s offered on cart) and the inclusion of the manual should get you more than $5. More than $20, I’d guess, if you find the box. :)

Peter

And he’s writing an updated version of it for New Riders right now. I think it is supposed to be out around the end of summer or in fall.

Heh. I was asking because I couldn’t find a single copy for sale on ebay. Guess no one wants the tape.

I thought that was wierd too. I was even looking through the completed auctions and I didn’t find anything.
