Have you adjusted the options for the interface at all? Might look at seeing what those do for you, if there’s not an ini that handles it (look in My Games where the ini files are stored; I haven’t launched Civ5 yet to check it out).

I don’t like how units with orders move AFTER ending the turn. unused moves are wasted especially for workers where they could start building a mine/farm etc.
-
I also miss the ability to see how much longer a worker has on a specific improvement by hovering the mouse over that tile.
I really hate point 1 the most though!
Also regarding the “ooh notifications!!” civ IV had them too when you enabled them in the options (minimize popups I think it was)

Yeah, I had this problem. Only I don’t seem to be re-acquiring the file. I click ok to close the dialog, restart, and nothing (this is not consistent with other times I have had this problem; usually the file or files is/are obtained immediately). I’ve verified my local files 3 times now.
Another crappy steam launch, alas.
Is the third tutorial (city building) broken for anyone else? No matter what I do, I can’t get the road connections to register.

So this is starting well, with constant graphical glitches (the screen looks like an old film reel with all the flickering) and a CTD about 50 turns into the demo. I’m thinking this wine will be left to mature for a little while longer.

In addition to that I hate wandering into city state borders - there needs to be a popup asking if you’re sure you want to do that. Also need to have units avoid borders when set to auto explore. Sounds like that can easily be patched.
I miss the building animations from Civ 4. I zoomed in on my mine and didn’t see the little cart rolling down his track :(

I suspect it is loading the game in the background. I haven’t measured it, but if you turn skip intro on, there seems to be a longer black screen before the first screen shows up. I suspect that it loads the video first while it is still loading in the background when the skip intro option is off.

Well, I thought fifth time was a charm - I saw Steam download a file this time. Restarted. Still can’t play the game in Dx 10/11 mode.

If you haven’t already done so, try enabling vsync in the options.

I wouldn’t want the units to move automatically at the beginning of your turn because I might want to cancel the orders of a unit based on something another player has done. Perhaps a good compromise would be a hotkey that tells all units with queued actions to perform their action for this turn.
Yeah, same here, probably a bug.

Was already on. Turning off anti-aliasing seemed to help with the worst graphics glitches.

I just confirmed this. I tried with intro skipping on, and it took 16 seconds of a black screen before the first screen came up. Then I tried with intro skipping off, and it took 16 seconds of the intro playing before I was able to skip and get to the same screen.
So considering that, I think I’ll leave the intro in there. I’d rather be watching something other than a black screen for 16 seconds.
Hmm. I completed all the tutorials just now without a hitch, so if it’s a glitch its not one that’s insurmountable. Are you using the individual build a road here, and here, and here, or are you using the connection mode? How about did you build yourself a Palace to make a capital first?
Gorgeous game, very clean UI. Heck, clean isn’t a very apt description. . .elegant is probably a better word. I’m completely new to Civ so looking forward to diving into the game.
I tried every mode of road building, but I didn’t build a capital. You don’t start with a capital? That’s sort of weird. I just assumed that Rome was my capital, but I guess I didn’t actually check.
Hrm…played the demo and I have to say, I’m kinda glad I didn’t preorder. I’m not really sure what it is, but something seems a little bit off. The fact that I can seem to research most techs at the beginning in about a third of the time it takes to build some of my units seems really…weird. And I feel somewhat unsettled by the map – not sure why, really, maybe it’s the hexes, but I really don’t have anything against hexes. :) Wonders also seem really fast to build.
I’d probably feel better about it if there was a tutorial in the demo or something (what genius left a tutorial out of the demo!?), but I feel like I’m just stumbling around and not really sure what I’m doing or why. That’s not a good sign.

Soooo, the game keeps crashing on me. I"m trying to reinstall DirectX, supposedly it helped for some user on the steam forums…
But so far, the game is awesome.

For some reason, I’d been under the impression that setting up a puppet regime was something you did if you didn’t want to deal with cities while you were getting your war on. Turns out, not so much. Catherine attacked me, so I went from three cities to eight and my empire was promptly paralyzed.
I’m not sure I like that mechanic all that much. Maybe it’ll grow on me.
