I fully agree with you Hans, and I also know how to Google and I’m not too lazy to actually do so, but I figured it might be a new map/scenario pack just released so there wasn’t any info on the wikipedia yet.
Thanks for the convenience-link anyway, others might want to take a look.
At least wikipedia is more recent than the official 2k wiki - that one doesn’t even list the Polynesians yet…

Oh, it wasn’t meant as a lmgtfy. I got confused as well and when looking up which DLC had more than just a civ I found that wiki-link to be quite useful.
Aye. I too am waiting for something more interesting (especially as they still don’t have hotseat).
Firaxis makes more money if they sell the game in bits, so I can fully understand why they do it this way though. The DLC is essentially their scheme for charging $60 for the game (which I think such AAA games are well worth), realizing that many who would balk at $60 will happily pay $50 + $10 in DLC. Plus DLC releases essentially garner free advertising.
Do the Cradle of Civilization Map Packs also include scenarios or are they really just maps (and only one map each to boot)?
I’ve not played any of the scenarios yet, and am not inclined to do so. This is mainly because my interest is in civilization building and the mini-goals of the scenarios don’t interest me much. I like adding new civs, though, as it mixes up the larger maps so I don’t see the same civs so often.
Still, I’ll pick up the new civ DLC on another Steam sale at some point. It’s not enough to pull me back on its own.
I no longer have time for games, but Berserker warriors and Ski Infantry are just too cool to pass up.
Don’t care about the map pack but I’m happy that the Vikings are finally back, and with the ski troopers from Civ2 to boot! I still remember those guys with their yellow jumpsuits…
I’ve played some scenarios, but generally this describes how I play Civ too.
And since this scenario is focussed on combat and conquest it seems like a real bad fit for Civ V.
But Harald Blåtand and dudes on skis*! Yeah!
*(which is extremely un-Danish… but then I have no idea what would make a better modern unit. Perhaps they should have went with a building instead. Windfarms as a modern upgrade)

Hell yeah - Time for the danes to kick ass and chew bubblegum, while skiing!
Not that I ever skiied in my life, but I’m sure some danes has…somewhere.
Harald Blåtand is pretty cool, though.
According to Greg, the patch is on schedule to be released today (Thursday) or Friday.
I’ve been wondering about this very fact. I guess that means the Norwegians are pretty much not going to be included. Reading up on the history of skiing military, it seems as if it may have originated in Denmark back in the 1500’s, but certainly Norway is much more associated with it. Weird choice, but I agree it’s probably the only sensible modern-ish unit to include that I could think of.
What’s the special ability of ski troopers? I hope they can cross mountains, that would make them unique among ground units (although even more un-Danish!).
Well, there’s already an entire civ that gets to ignore hills, so travelling over mountains seems like a logical ability for a special unit. I think that would make them quite interesting to use.

Indeed - we danes are known for our mountains and our ability to traverse them :-D
There is certainly no mountain in Denmark that I haven’t crossed!
LOL - well put.
edit - as an aside, the only other thing I could think of would be extra movement speed in tundra, but that would be pretty boring because it’s limited to low population areas.
Are you gonna take your SW turn in Game 36 soon? Oh, wait…
You’re so funny!
If you ever manage to start the game, I’ll take my fucking turn.
(and screw it up so you’ll have to berate me in 48 point boldface)

New patch is out. The release notes are quite substantial (so much so I can’t fit them in a post). If this is half as good as it looks, I may have to give the game a spin this weekend.
