Anyone else buy the the Denmark Scenario Pack and the Explorer’s Map Pack through Steam and have one or both not show up in the DLC tab? Steam Support is taking its sweet time getting back to me on the issue.

Mine doesn’t show the Explorer’s pack on the tab, but I believe the maps are in the game. It does show Denmark.

EDIT - just confirmed, the maps are indeed in my game. I’ve had this happen in the past with other games and DLC where for whatever reason the name never gets applied to the properties tag, but it’s still there. You can also verify your purchase if you click on “<your Steam name>'s account” in the top right, in case you’re worried it didn’t somehow completely transact.

The much requested addition for the next patch is… Hotseat. Slated for June or early July. Still no plans to add PBEM, though.

Really? Is that a common request? Compared to end-game replays, stats and graphs?

Nobody cares about end game replays except Civ 4 Luddites.

Actually, I miss them too. But the amount of fuss that minor feature creates is alien to me.

Given a choice between them and hotseat, which would you prefer?

Given a choice between coding and developing assets for each, I guess we know which Firaxis prefers. I’m mostly a SP gamer, so hotseat isn’t a big deal except I’d imagine I’d finally have a chance to do a multi-player game with my kid. I could only imagine how boring it would be to wait for each of us to ponder our moves, but at least it would (ostensibly) provide that option.

Will animations and AI diplomacy be broken in hotsest too? :)

Neither. Can I haz more expansion, pls?!

So, did I not read an important update or was I just hit by accident?
the last update or the Vikings DLC killed all my saves. Of course I want to start a new Viking game, but I also wanted to finish my Polynesia game…

Been playing a lot of CiV lately but not keeping up with the thread. Can somebody tell me if one of my chief flaws with the game is one of yours as well?

It can be maddening to have negotiated Open Borders with a neighbor and be in the middle of some transcontinental situation and have the border treaty expire and your units flung to the outer reaches or stuck in a border hole. Why can’t they give you a window from about 3 turns before which at least gives you the option to re-open negotions with your friendly neighbor and gain a continuous extension? I mean, maybe they will and maybe they won’t but at least then you can make a more conscious effort to get your units situated. That whole borders business seems too facile.

I wish all treaties gave you an option to renew before they expire. It’s a pain to get the “gems to X ended, silver from X ended, gold to X ended, money from X ended” message and then have to set everything up again. I think one of the prior versions (4?) did something where if they were willing to renew the deal, they would automatically ask you to renew it. Seems like it’d be pretty easy to code in. It’s one of several small but inexplicable lapses in the game.

They are making some progress on addressing those various issues in patches, though (eg recently patched in the ability to select units from the army overview).

I’ll agree to that! Nothing worse than having a swath of treaties end on the same turn and then have to attempt to renew all of them. Notification asking whether you’d like to renegotiate terms would be useful for sure.

Yeah, that would be really nice. At least they finally put in a damn resource viewer.

Turns out the Denmark pack is PC only. Buried in fine print, sort of. Bummer, but at least I have it on one machine.

Ahhh - sorry, I didn’t realize what you were playing on. Well, glad to hear you can at least enjoy it on one machine.

We’re working on the Mac versions now. Those will be come available for the people that got it on PC when we release it.

Hey, cool, they are adding hotseat!

You don’t say? ;)

Playing a Denmark game neighbouring the agressive Germans (pretty realistic), nasty Japanese and friendly Indians. Turns out the Viking Beserker is better than both the Samurai and Landsknect… so I have decided that Civ V is a realistic historic wargame.
